Thom Sherman Joins the CW as Executive Vice President, Drama Development

THOM SHERMAN JOINS THE CW AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, DRAMA DEVELOPMENT

Thom Sherman has been named Executive Vice President, Drama Development, The CW, it was announced today by Dawn Ostroff, President, Entertainment, to whom he will report. In his new capacity, Sherman, an accomplished network executive, will oversee all drama programming development for the network.

"Thom is a well-liked and respected executive with impeccable relationships all over town," said Ostroff. "His experience and creative vision will elevate The CW in the community and ultimately, where it matters most, on the screen."

Sherman headed the ABC drama development department as for five years as Senior Vice President. During that time he was responsible for the development and/or oversight of many primetime dramatic series including such critically acclaimed and highly rated series as "Lost," "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy," "Alias," "NYPD Blue," "The Practice" and "Once & Again."

Following that he became President of J.J. Abrams' entertainment company, Bad Robot Productions, in February 2004. Currently, the company produces for ABC the worldwide hit "Lost" and "What About Brian," which was recently renewed for a second season, as well as a new series, "Six Degrees," an ensemble drama set in New York City. The company just completed production of the fifth and final season of the cult hit drama "Alias." Sherman serves as an executive producer on "What About Brian" and "Six Degrees."

Mr. Sherman was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Del Mar, California. He has a bachelor of arts degree in theater from the University of California at San Diego. He lives in Encino, California, with his wife and two children.
