Pilot Update: April 28
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from various wire reports each morning:

$5.15/HR (HBO, New!) - HBO is close to greenlighting a pilot for a new single-camera comedy entitled "$5.15/Hr." The project, about a group of people who get by on the current federal minimum wage, is from filmmaker Richard Linklater ("The Waking Life") and TV writer-producer Rodney Rothman ("Undeclared"). The duo wrote the script with Linklater likely directing. 3 Arts Entertainment's Erwin Stoff and David Miner are the executive producers along with Linklater and Rothman.

CELEBRITY TEMPS (NBC, New!) - NBC has ordered a pilot for the new half-hour reality series in which celebrities trade places with regular people for a day. Pariah's Gavin Polone, Jessika Borsiczky and Jonathan Frank are producing the pilot, which will feature Carmen Electra taking care of small children for a day as a nanny while their parents are taken away for star-level pampering and a night on the town. Steamroller Entertainment's Alex Duda ("ElimiDate") and John Rieber will also executive produce the project.

CUPID (CBS) - Craig Piligian ("Survivor," "Worst-Case Scenario") has signed on as the executive producer/showrunner for Simon Cowell's upcoming reality series, which has an 11 episode order for this summer. The project, a mix of "The Bachelorette," "American Idol" and "Sex and the City," will track a single woman and her best friends as they look for prospective beaus for the bachelorette. Once the pool is narrowed to 10, the show will go live and allow viewers to eliminate a different man each week.
