The WB Extends All Four New Comedies
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- The WB is sticking by all four of its freshman comedies, ordering full seasons of 22 episodes for "Like Family" and "Run of the House" and three additional episodes each of "All About the Andersons" and "Steve Harvey's Big Time."

The news comes as a major surprise for "House," which currently ranks at the least-watched series on the six major networks this season. As for "Family" and "Andersons," the Frog was no doubt encouraged by the pair's strong performances this past Friday in which "Family" won the 8:30/7:30c time slot in women 12-34 (2.6/10), teens (2.5/11) and female teens (3.8/16) and "Andersons" won the 9:30/8:30c half-hour in teens (2.0/9) and female teens (2.6/11), all target demographics for the Frog. "Big Time" also scored well this past week, finishing third in its Thursday, 8:00/7:00c home among women 18-34 (1.9/5), women 12-34 (1.9/5) and female teens (1.8/6), behind only "Survivor" on CBS and "Friends" on NBC.

The pickups leave only a handful of freshman series on the broadcast networks with their fates still in the air: "Karen Sisco" on ABC; "Arrested Development," "A Minute With Stan Hooper" and "Tru Calling" on FOX; "Miss Match" and "The Lyon's Den" on NBC; and "The Mullets" and "Rock Me Baby" on UPN.
