SIMPLE PLAN TO PERFORM ON "THE 2005 TEEN CHOICE AWARDS" TUESDAY, AUGUST 16, ON FOX

Multi-platinum rockers Simple Plan are set to perform at THE 2005 TEEN CHOICE AWARDS Tuesday, Aug. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The Gibson Theater in Los Angeles will play host to the special, celebrating the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, comedy, fashion and sports.

Simple Plan has dominated charts and sold over 1.2 million copies of their sophomore album "Still Not Getting Any�" The five-piece will perform their chart-topping single "Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me?)" on THE 2005 TEEN CHOICE AWARDS. Currently on tour bringing their brash, pop/punk sound directly to fans across the county, Simple Plan continues to receive numerous accolades, including a 2005 Teen Choice nomination for Choice Music: Rock Group. Simple Plan joins previously announced performer Gwen Stefani.

Additional celebrities scheduled to appear at THE 2005 TEEN CHOICE AWARDS include Paris Hilton (THE SIMPLE LIFE 3: INTERNS), Eva Longoria ("Desperate Housewives"), actress Jessica Alba ("Fantastic Four"), TV and radio personality Ryan Seacrest (AMERICAN IDOL), actress Rachel Bilson (THE O.C.), Wilmer Valderrama (THAT '70s SHOW), actress Eva Mendes ("Hitch"), recording artist/actor Jesse McCartney ("Summerland"), TV hunk Jesse Metcalfe ("Desperate Housewives"), singing sisters Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, teen star Emma Roberts ("Unfabulous") and singer/actor Tyler Hilton ("One Tree Hill").

Duff and Schneider will preside over the seventh annual awards, where the coolest stars will receive coveted Teen Choice surfboard awards in categories such as Choice Breakout TV Show, Choice Movie Chemistry, Choice Reality/Variety Show, Choice Breakout Artist, Choice Male Hottie, Choice Female Athlete, Choice Liplock and Choice TV Sidekick. From now until Thursday, Aug. 4, voters can log on exclusively to http://www.teenpeople.com/teenchoice to cast their ballots for the hottest celebrities in film, television, music, sports and fashion.

Teens are also eligible to enter the "Claim to Fame" contest, a nationwide search to find guy and girl trophy presenters for THE 2005 TEEN CHOICE AWARDS. The "Claim to Fame" contest kicked off Friday, July 1, and ends Monday, July 25. The winners will each receive a four-day/three-night trip to Los Angeles to attend THE 2005 TEEN CHOICE AWARDS, where their responsibilities will include presenting trophies, escorting celebrity winners, hanging out backstage and attending the post-show party.
