Marathon: MYTHBUSTERS (9 to 3AM ET/PT)

Sneak Peek: SMASH LAB (during 10PM hour)

Wednesday is for MYTHBUSTERS, the popular series that uses modern-day science to uncover the truth behind myths and legends. And at 10PM, Discovery Channel sneak peeks SMASH LAB, set to premiere beginning January 2008. The next generation in destruction instruction, SMASH LAB features a team of maverick engineers as they take on everyday technology and apply it in revolutionary new ways. First they break the technology down to see how it works and then use their know-how to see how it could be used in a different, super-sized way. Could bullet proof Kevlar protect an airliner from bombs? Could a car airbag be reinvented to stop a helicopter sinking after ditching at sea? SMASH LAB aims to find out.

Sneak Peek: SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED (during 10PM hour)

All day on Thursday, DIRTY JOBS' Mike Rowe works alongside the men and women whose work makes make civilized life possible for the rest of us the turkey farmers, bug breeders, penguin keepers, snake researchers, steam ship cleaners and more. At 10PM, SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED tells the fascinating stories of items both high-tech and mundane from plasma televisions to toilets and toothpaste. As hosts Louis A. Bloomfield, Professor of Physics at the University of Virginia, and Brian Unger, correspondent, humorist and producer, explain: every object has a story and an incredible process behind it.

Saturday, December 29

From the heart of "Tornado Alley" with STORM CHASERS to the depths of the world's oceans in BLUE PLANET, and on a wild trip around the world with extreme sportsman Will Gadd in FEARLESS PLANET, Saturday's marathon spans the globe. And at 10PM, new series BONE DETECTIVES, set to premiere January 2008, journeys to the farthest reaches of the earth. Each week, archaeologist Scotty Moore takes viewers on a quest driven by the belief that the secrets of the past have yet to be revealed.
