By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

THE 30 PERCENT/WORKING CLASS (CMT) - Sitcom veteran Rob Schiller ("'Til Death") has been tapped to direct two of the cable channel's four comedy presentations. The first, from Peter Knight, "centers on a family that must adjust their lifestyles by cutting their expenses by 30 percent"; while the latter, from Jill Cargerman, stars Melissa Peterman as "a mother who stretches beyond her means in order to move her family into a wealthy neighborhood." Casting is underway.

DETROIT 187 (ABC) - Kevin Hooks ("Human Target") has joined the freshman drama as an executive producer. There he'll serve alongside David Hoberman, David Zabel, Jason Richman and Todd Lieberman as the in-house director, where he'll helm at least two installments.

GLEE (FOX) - John Stamos ("ER") is set to recur on the show's second season. He'll play the new love interest for one of the characters, details of which will be unveiled in tonight's season finale. It's not clear how many episodes the actor, who's already been openly teased on the show (Emma: "They say it takes certainty more than talent to make a star - I mean, look at John Stamos"), is on board to appear.

GREY'S ANATOMY (ABC) - Jesse Williams, who recurred this past season on the veteran soap, has been upped to series regular. Creator Shonda Rhimes previously indicated Williams would be back for the new season, albeit not necessarily on a full-time basis.

OUTSOURCED (NBC) - Michael Pennie ("My Name Is Earl") has been tapped as a co-executive producer on the upcoming Thursday-night comedy. Said development is the result of a two-year overall deal the writer/producer recently inked with "Outsourced" producer Universal Media Studios, where he'll also develop new series projects. Ken Kwapis and creator Robert Borden also serve as executive producers.

UNTITLED DAVID LITT PROJECT (CMT) - Tom Arnold ("My Big Redneck Wedding") is set to topline the comedy pilot presentation, about hardware store owner Joe Herman, "a multi-generational show about a man seeking the empty nest and his family who is unwilling to let him have it." David Litt is behind the project, one of four currently in the works at the cable channel as it preps its first scripted programming.
