LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

BONES (FOX) - Saffron Burrows ("Law & Order: Criminal Intent") has booked the final principal role on the proposed spin-off, about Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults), a former military policeman who can find anything. She's set as the other member of his team, Ike Latulippe: "a fine looking woman, highly intelligent and experienced in the ways of the wide world." Michael Clarke Duncan also stars in the 20th Century Fox Television-based project, which will air as a backdoor pilot later this season. Daniel Sackheim is directing said installment from a script by Hart Hanson.


COOPER & STONE (The CW) - John Dahl ("Dexter") has signed on to direct the drama pilot, about "two smart young female detectives on Chicago's North Side who are best friends, equally adept at discussing fashion, music, pop culture as they are solving homicides." CBS Television Studios is behind the hour, which comes from creator Laurie Arent.


GLEE (FOX) - Twentieth Television has cleared the show's off-network run on various FOX owned-and-operated stations, including those in the New York, Los Angeles and Chicago markets. Said weekend syndication will begin in the fall of 2013. Oxygen owns the show's cable rights and will strip the series likewise in the fall of 2013.


HALLELUJAH (ABC) - Jesse L. Martin ("Law & Order") has landed the lead role on the drama pilot, about a tiny town in Tennessee which finds itself being torn apart by the forces of good and evil. He's believed to be playing Jared O'Neal, "a mysterious, charming drifter," in the Marc Cherry-penned hour, which is set up at ABC Studios.


LONGMIRE (A&E) - Australian actor Robert Taylor ("The Matrix") has booked the title role on the drama pilot, about Walt Longmire, "the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming." Said hour, written by Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny, is based on Craig Johnson's novels about the character. Warner Horizon Television and The Shephard/Robin Company are behind the pilot, production of which was contingent on casting the aforementioned role. Greer Shephard and Michael M. Robin are executive producing alongside Baldwin and Coveny.


MAN UP!/WORK IT (ABC) - Beth McCathy-Miller ("30 Rock") is set to helm both comedy pilots at the network. The Warner Bros. Television-based latter, from co-creators Andrew Reich and Ted Cohen, revolves around "two out-of-work car salesmen who realize that it is now a woman's world and decide that in order to find work again and succeed they are going to have to dress as women to get jobs as pharmaceuticals reps." The ABC Studios-based former, penned by Christopher Moynihan, then follows a group of guys all at a different stages in their romantic relationships.


ONCE UPON A TIME (ABC) - Mark Mylod ("Shameless") has been tapped to direct the drama pilot, about "a woman who's drawn to a small town in Maine after a boy shows up on her doorstep claiming to be her son, and she finds that the magic and mystery of fairy tales may be the key to understanding her troubled past." Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz penned the script for ABC Studios. Steven Pearlman is also on board to executive produce alongside the duo.


PERSON OF INTEREST (CBS) - David Semel ("No Ordinary Family") has been tapped to direct the drama pilot, about "a CIA agent, presumed dead, who is recruited by a reclusive billionaire to wage war against violent criminals in New York City." Jonah Nolan wrote the script to the project, which comes from the Warner Bros. Television-based Bad Robot Productions.


REVENGE (ABC) - Ashley Madekwe ("The Beautiful Life") is the first to board the drama pilot, about Emily Thorne, a mysterious young woman who comes to the Hamptons to exact revenge on the people who destroyed her family. She'll play Ashley Davenport, Emily's "stylish and confident" friend who works for the people who wronged her. Mike Kelley penned the hour for ABC Studios. Phillip Noyce is directing.


SMASH (NBC) - Katharine McPhee ("American Idol") and Jack Davenport ("FlashForward") are the latest additions to the drama pilot, about a cross section of characters who come together to put on a Marilyn Monroe musical on Broadway. She'll play Karen, a beautiful actress "full of youth and passion" who goes to all lengths to book the role of Marilyn Monroe in the musical. Davenport then is as Derek Walsh, a "fierce and intelligent" musical choreographer trying to find his next big project. Debra Messing and Megan Hilty also star in the Universal Media Studios-based hour, to be directed by Michael Mayer from a script by Theresa Rebeck.


SUBURGATORY (ABC) - Jane Levy ("Shameless") has been cast in the lead role on the comedy pilot, about Tessa, "a teenage girl who is moved from Manhattan, where she grew up, to her version of hell: the suburbs." Michael Fresco is directing the Warner Bros. Television-based half-hour from a script by Emily Kapnek.


TAGGED (FOX) - Tommy Dewey ("Roommates") has booked the lead role on the pilot, a workplace comedy set at the Los Angeles County's coroner's office. He'll play Wally Percy "who, just fresh out of medical school, scraps plans to work at an UCLA hospital to join his father, respected coroner James Percy (Gary Cole), and his team at the coroner's office." David Guarascio and Moses Port are behind the half-hour, which is set up at Sony Pictures Television.
