Development Update: Monday, June 13
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

LOVE HANDLES: COUPLES IN CRISIS (Lifetime) - The cable channel has pulled the newcomer after two airings. Repeats of "How I Met Your Mother" will instead fill the Tuesday, 10:00/9:00c hour effectively immediately. No return date for the six remaining produced installments was given.

THE PLAYBOY CLUB (NBC) - NBC's Salt Lake City affiliate, KSL-TV 5, has indicated it will not air the freshman drama due to concerns over its racy content. "The Playboy brand is known internationally. Everyone is clear what it stands for. We want to be sure everyone is clear what the KSL brand stands for, which is completely inconsistent with the Playboy brand," KSL President and CEO Mark Willes said in an on-air statement this morning. KSL previously nixed airings of the Peacock's short-lived comedies "Coupling" and "God, the Devil and Bob" over similar concerns. It's understood KSL is working with NBC to find another station in the market to carry the show.

UNTITLED ROB SCHNEIDER PROJECT (CBS) - Cheech Marin has joined the cast of the retooled comedy pilot, about "a confirmed bachelor (Rob Schneider) who has just married into a tight-knit Mexican-American family." He'll take over for Tony Plana as Rob's father-in-law Fernando. Eugenio Derbez and Lupe Ontiveros also star in the half-hour, from CBS Television Studios and co-creators Schneider and Lew Morton.

THE WEDDING BAND (TBS) - Matt Pyken ("Castle") has been tapped to supervise the upcoming dramedy, which follows the misadventures of four friends - Brian Austin Green, Derek Miller, Harold Perrineau, Peter Cambor - who spend their spare time performing in a band. He'll serve as an executive produce alongside Mike Tollin, director Bryan Gordon and co-creators Darin Moiselle and Josh Lobis for FremantleMedia.
