DEADLIEST CATCH WINS BIG AT 2011 PRIMETIME CREATIVE ARTS EMMYS(R)

-- Discovery Channel Series Honored with Four Awards, including Outstanding Reality Program -

(Silver Spring, Md.) - Discovery Channel's DEADLIEST CATCH won big at the 2011 Primetime Creative Arts Emmys(R) this Saturday, September 10, 2011, taking home four awards including Outstanding Reality Program. The series was also recognized for Outstanding Cinematography for Reality Programming, Outstanding Picture Editing for Reality Programming, and Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming.

With its four wins for DEADLIEST CATCH, Discovery Channel tied for the most Creative Arts Emmys(R) for a basic cable network, and the series tied for the second highest Emmys(R) wins for any program.

DEADLIEST CATCH profiles the men who risk everything to work the most dangerous job in the world - crab fishing in the icy, treacherous waters of Alaska's Bering Sea. Historically a nominee in Nonfiction categories, this year marked the first year DEADLIEST CATCH was entered, nominated in and won the Reality Program category. The series beat out tough competition in the category, including Discovery Channel's own MYTHBUSTERS, as well as past winner Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (Bravo), Antiques Roadshow (PBS), Undercover Boss (CBS) and Hoarders (A&E).

DEADLIEST CATCH's Emmy(R)-winning episode was the emotional "Redemption Day," which dealt with the death of larger-than-life Captain Phil Harris. Harris suffered a stroke on January 29, 2010 while his boat, the Cornelia Marie, was off-loading crab. DEADLIEST CATCH, with Captain Phil's and his sons' blessings, documented his battle through surgery and treatment, and ultimately his passing ten days later on February 9.

DEADLIEST CATCH is produced for Discovery Channel by Original Productions, a FremantleMedia Company. The winning team for Outstanding Reality Program for DEADLIEST CATCH includes:

-Thom Beers, Executive Producer

-Jeff Conroy, Executive Producer

-Paul Gasek, Executive Producer for Discovery Channel

-Tracy Rudolph, Executive Producer for Discovery Channel

-Matt Renner, Co-Executive Producer

-Sheila McCormack, Supervising Producer

-Ethan Prochnik, Series Producer

-Steven Robillard, Senior Producer

-Todd Stanley, Producer

The 2011 Creative Arts Emmy(R) Awards are a presentation of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The Awards were presented on Saturday, September 10 at a ceremony at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.
