LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX will cap the freshman run of "Terra Nova" with a two-hour season finale on Monday, December 19 at 8:00/7:00c, network sources have confirmed to the site exclusively.
Said date means that the newcomer will presumably complete its 13-episode order with just two interruptions: October 24 for a potential Game 5 of the World Series and December 5 for the network's second annual "American Country Awards."
FOX entertainment president Kevin Reilly told reporters at the TCA Summer Press Tour the network could only commitment to 13 installments for its first season. "Even in success there's no scenario that 'Terra Nova' comes back this year for timing reasons," he said at the time. "Whether it's 22 next year, contractually it's 22. Whether that's something we can ultimately do we're going to have to see."
Other upcoming highlights for the remainder of 2011:
-- The second of four planned "America's Most Wanted" specials has been booked for Saturday, December 17. The first, as previously reported, airs Saturday, October 29.
-- Encores of newcomer "I Hate My Teenage Daughter," premiering Wednesday, November 30 at 9:30/8:30c, will take over the Saturday, midnight/11:00c slot for the month of December (save for the network's New Year's Eve coverage on December 31).
-- An original "Cleveland Show" will replace "American Dad" on December 4 in the post-"Family Guy" slot of 9:30/8:30c.
-- Previously announced holiday specials include "Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas" (premieres Thursday, November 24 at 8:00/7:00c, repeats on Wednesday, December 28 at 8:30/7:30c) and "Happiness Is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown" (premieres Thursday, November 24 at 8:30/7:30c, repeats on Friday, December 16 at 8:00/7:00c).
