1600 PENN (NBC) - Mike Royce ("Men of a Certain Age") has signed on to serve as showrunner on the midseason comedy, which envisions a First Family - including Bill Pullman as the President and Jenna Elfman as the First Lady - as just the average American clan dealing with all the everyday issues. Jason Winer, Jon Lovett and Josh Gad co-created the half-hour, which comes from 20th Century Fox Television. (Variety.com)

BEN & KATE (FOX) - Garrett Donovan and Neil Goldman ("Community") have been tapped to oversee the newcomer, about an exuberant, irresponsible dreamer (Nat Faxon) who moves in with his overly responsible little sister (Dakota Johnson) to help raise her five-year-old daughter (Maggie Jones). They'll serve as executive producers alongside Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope, Jake Kasdan and creator Dana Fox. Donovan and Goldman recently inked an overall deal with the show's producer 20th Century Fox Television. (Variety.com)

UNTITLED ROB RIGGLE PROJECT (HBO, New!) - Rob Riggle is set to star and produce a potential comedy at the pay channel about "a successful, hard-living boss (Riggle) who lives a dark, self-centered, unhealthy life" during Wall Street's heydays of the 1980s. Adam McKay and Chris Henchy will pen the single-camera half-hour, based on an idea by Riggle, which they'll executive produce alongside Will Ferrell of Gary Sanchez Productions, Mark Wahlberg of Closest to the Hole Productions, Stephen Levinson of Leverage Management and Peter Principato and Paul Young of Principato-Young Entertainment. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - FOX Entertainment President Kevin Reilly revealed during the network's upfront presentation that Maria Bello will be a series regular on "Touch" next season; FOX's scheduling chief Preston Beckman likewise confirmed "Bones" will return for 24 episodes next season (@MaskedScheduler); and Richard Burgi will guest on "Burn Notice" as "a duplicitous, backstabbing loan shark with a vile temper who's looking to move up the criminal ladder" in the show's seventh episode this season (TVLine.com).
