ART OF MORE, THE (Crackle/Sony; W: Chuck Rose & Gardner Stern; D: Gary Fleder) - Cary Elwes and Cristina Rosato have both been cast in the upcoming original, which goes into the underbelly and surprisingly cutthroat world of premium auction houses. She'll play Belinda, "the assistant to Dennis Quaid's Samuel Bruckner. She also serves as a distraction for Graham Connor (Chrisian Cooke), a man with blue-collar roots who is working his way up in the auction house world." Elwes then is set as Arthur Davenport, "a shrewd and eccentric world-class collector of art and illegal antiquities who mentors Graham." Kate Bosworth also stars. Production on the series starts this week in Montreal. (Deadline.com, THR.com)

MYST (Hulu, New!) - Legendary Television's small screen take on the classic 1990s video game has received a series commitment at the digital distributor. Writer Evan Daugherty is spearheading the project, which "will explore the origins of the island of Myst from the game where a man wakes up on a mystery island with absolutely no idea who he is, where is, or how he got there." Matt Tolmach and David Manpearl of Matt Tolmach Productions will also serve as executive producers, as will Legendary's Lauren Whitney, Peter Johnson and Cory Lanier. (Deadline.com)

PREACHER (AMC/Sony; W: Sam Catlin; D: Evan Goldberg & Seth Rogen) - Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson have both scored roles on the drama pilot, based on the comic book about Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God. The former is set as Betsy Schenck, "a meek wife who appears to suffer beatings by the hand of her husband, Donny (Wilson). When the Preacher checks up on her, though, she tells a different story." Elizabeth Perkins, Ian Colletti and Lucy Griffiths also star. (Deadline.com)

WARMTH OF OTHER SUNS, THE (FX, New!) - Isabel Wilkerson's book, subtitled "The Epic Story of America's Great Migration," is being developed as a limited series at the cable channel. Writer/director Dee Rees ("Bessie") is behind the project, which "chronicles the movement of some 6 million African-Americans from the south into the north and western regions of the country from the period of 1915 to 1970." FX Productions and ABC Signature will co-produce the effort, which is set up at Shonda Rhimes and Besty Beers's Shondaland banner. (Variety.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Debbie Allen is set to serve as an executive producer/in-house director on "Grey's Anatomy" next season (Deadline.com); Joe Ide's upcoming debut novel "IQ" is being developed as a TV series by Alcon Television Group and Atlas Entertainment (Deadline.com); Asylum Entertainment and Pilgrim Studios are spearheading "Planet Sport," "an event sports documentary series that explores sports on a global scale" (Deadline.com); Jonathan Bennett has scored an arc on "Awkward" as Ethan, "who works with Jenna (Ashley Rickards) at her summer job" (Deadline.com);

BiteSizeTV's "Hollywood Today Live" is set to launch September 14 on Fox TV and Media General stations in major markets, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago (Deadline.com); Nick Weiss has inked a two-year overall deal with ABC Studios, home to his off-cycle comedy pilot, "Family Reunion" (Deadline.com); Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Entertainment has renewed its overall deal with Universal Cable Productions (Deadline.com); and Peter Franzen, Jasper Paakkonen and Dianne Doan have all landed roles on season four of "Vikings," filling the void of departing co-stars Jessalyn Gilsig and George Blagden (THR.com).
