AP BIO (NBC, New!) - Michael Patrick O'Brien ("Saturday Night Live") has sold a new single-camera comedy to the Peacock about "a former philosophy professor who takes a job teaching AP biology and uses his students to get back at the people in his life who have wronged him." Seth Meyers, Mike Shoemaker and Andrew Singer also serve as executive producers as will Broadway Video's Lorne Michaels for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)
BUDDING PROSPECTS (Amazon, New!) - T. C. Boyle's novel - about "three hapless San Francisco boys who move to the country to grow marijuana in 1983" - being developed as a comedy at the streaming service. Writer Melissa Axelrod and director Terry Zwigoff are behind the project, which has already tapped Will Sasso as one of the leads, Gesh, "a big, unruly guy who is smarter than he seems." Vincent Landay also serves as an executive producer with Joanna Colbert co-executive producing. (Deadline.com)
DEEP, THE (Freeform) - Ian Verdun has signed onto the mermaid-themed drama pilot as Xander McClure, "a burly deep sea fisherman, big-hearted and tough as nails, who is first mate to his father on a fishing trawler." (Deadline.com)
DR. DEATH (CBS, New!) - Alan Cumming ("The Good Wife") is back in business with the Eye for a new drama based on the upcoming book of the same name by James Patterson about "a former CIA operative (Cumming) who has since built a normal life as a gifted professor and writer but is pulled back into his old life when the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer on the loose." Michael Rauch is penning the hour for CBS Television Studios, with James Patterson Entertainment's Patterson, Bill Robinson and Leopoldo Gout and Secret Hideout's Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin also executive producing. KRAWL (MTV, New!) - John Swetnam (Step Up: All In) is developing a new drama at the cable channel about "a young woman whose social media account begins showing her posts a day in advance. Now armed with the power to see the future, she finds herself embroiled in a mysterious conspiracy that threatens the lives of everyone around her." Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate of Fabrik Entertainment also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
S.W.A.T. (CBS, New!) - Aaron Rahsaan Thomas ("Sleepy Hollow") is spearheading a reboot of the 1970s series billed as "an intense, action-packed procedural following an African-American SWAT lieutenant torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers." The project, which has a pilot production commitment from the network with series penalty behind it, is set up at Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios. Shawn Ryan, Neal H. Moritz and Justin Lin will also executive produce alongside MiddKid Productions' Marney Hochman, Original Film's Pavun Shetty and Perfect Storm Entertainment's Danielle Woodrow. (Deadline.com)
SINNER, THE (USA) - Bill Pullman (Independence Day: Resurgence) has signed onto the drama pilot as Harry Ambrose, "a sensitive, dogged detective who finds himself disturbed and uniquely fascinated by Cora (Jessica Biel). Convinced that the bare facts of the case conceal something considerably more significant, Ambrose starts to investigate Cora's life." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED AMBER RUFFIN PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Amber Ruffin ("Late Night with Seth Meyers") has set up a new single-camera comedy at the Peacock about "a has-been sibling singing group from the '80s, who now make ends meet by doing what no musician wants to do - writing jingles and performing their old hits at parties." Broadway Video's Lorne Michaels serves as an executive producer for Universal Television as will Seth Meyers, Mike Shoemaker and Andrew Singer. (Deadline.com)
