CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD TALK SHOW (Comedy Central, New!) - Charlamagne Tha God, host of the New York syndicated radio show "The Breakfast Club," is set to front a new weekly talk show for the cable channel. Said effort, due later this year, presumably succeeds "The Gray Area with Charlamagne Tha God," announced for HBO back in June of 2018. No other specifics were given. (Vulture.com)
FREE WILL (FOX, New!) - Kirk A. Moore has sold a "provocative family drama that follows the Shoppes, a prominent black family based in New Orleans who run a psychic business," to the network. Quinton Peeples as well as Will Packer Media's Will Packer and Sheila Ducksworth are also on board to executive produce for FOX Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP PROJECT, THE (Quibi, New!) - Guy Nattiv and Jaime Ray Newman have sold a new series to the short-form streaming platform "based on their own tumultuous long-distance relationship from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv as it follows two people in love living on opposite sides of the globe as they endure the roller coaster of building a life together using their cell phones and today's technology." Nattiv will also helm the project with Greg Silverman and Paul Shapiro of Stampede Ventures also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
LOUDEST VOICE, THE (Showtime) - Showrunner Alex Metcalf has signed an exclusive overall deal with producer Blumhouse. The pact covers both film and television. (Deadline.com)
MACGYVER/MAGNUM P.I. (CBS) - Executive producer Peter M. Lenkov has been fired from both series following an investigation into a complaint about a toxic environment on the former series. "Peter Lenkov is no longer the executive producer overseeing MacGyver and Magnum P.I., and the Studio has ended its relationship with him," a spokeperson said in a statement. "Our Studio is committed to ensuring safe and respectful production environments. Over the past year, we have assigned human resource production partners to every show, expanded staff training and increased reporting options. We will continue to evolve our practices with continued focus on building trust with all who work on our sets. Every complaint is taken seriously, every claim is investigated, and when evidence is clear that policies were violated and values not upheld, we take decisive action." (Deadline.com)
RIP CREW (HBO Max, New!) - Mike Weiss has booked a new drama at the streaming service inspired by a portion of Jerry Clark's life rights. In the project, "when a disgraced ex-FBI agent turned criminology professor discovers that his most gifted students are planning a massive heist, he decides to scoop their score and become the criminal he used to chase." Michael Seitzman and Campfire's Ross Dinerstein will also executive produce for ABC Signature Studios with Eva Gunz and Edward McGurn as co-executive producers. Clark will serve as consulting producer. (Deadline.com)
SACRED LIES (Facebook Watch) - NBCUniversal's Peacock has acquired the streaming rights to the Blumhouse Television series, due to launch on July 15. The pact includes "an option to become the sole home of the series for a potential third season." (THR.com)
SPY AMONG FRIENDS, A (Spectrum, New!) - Damian Lewis and Dominic West are in talks to topline a six-episode limited series adaptation of Ben Macintyre's Cold War espionage thriller, which "follows the defection of notorious British intelligence officer and KGB double agent, Kim Philby (West), through the lens of his complex relationship with MI6 colleague and close friend, Nicholas Elliott (Lewis). The show examines espionage through their friendship, the fallout of which affects East-West relations to this day." Director Nick Murphy and writer Alexander Cary are spearheading the project for Sony Pictures Television and ITV Studios. Rookery Productions' Lewis and White Soup's West will likewise executive produce alongside Patrick Spence and Veritas Entertainment Group's Bob Bookman, Alan Gasmer and Peter Jaysen. Chris Clough is producing. Both Spectrum Originals and BritBox will presumably carry the series, targeted for the fall of 2021. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MATTHEW WEINER PROJECT (FX, New!) - "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner has set up a half-hour series at the cable channel. No other details were given other than it is set up at FX Productions and Weiner will write, direct and executive produce. (Variety.com)
