B POSITIVE (CBS) - D.B. Sweeney has landed a heavily recurring role on the series as Bert, "a cook that works at the Valley Hills assisted living facility. He can be a little dense, and his haphazard cooking leads to more than a few disappointing meals. But his new boss, Gina, continues to support him. She sees potential, and a lot of herself, in Bert." (Deadline.com)
BELATED (FX, New!) - Writer/director Peter Tolan has booked a potential comedy at the cable channel about "an unexpected intergenerational friendship between Owen, a recently out man in his 40s, and Clay, a 17-year-old trans teen, as Owen and his ex-wife and children attempt to find their new normal." The Cloudland Company's Nick Alford will also executive produce for FX Productions. (Variety.com)
EXTRAPOLATIONS (Apple TV+) - The anthology drama series has added Forest Whitaker, Marion Cotillard, Tobey Maguire and Eiza Gonzalez to its roster. Whitaker plays "small-time investor August Bolo"; with Cotillard as "art dealer Sylvie Bolo"; Maguire as "kelp farmer Nic"; and Gonzalez as "artist and influencer Elodie." (Deadline.com)
GREY'S ANATOMY (ABC) - E.R. Fightmaster will return to recur as Dr. Kai Bartley, "who is part of the research team in Minnesota, and whose work Amelia clearly knew well." (Variety.com)
MEXICAN BEVERLY HILLS (CBS, New!) - Erick Galindo and Aaron Izek have sold a single-camera comedy to the Eye which "tells the story of a working-class Mexican-American family that moves to the wealthy, heavily Latinx city of Downey - also known as the Mexican Beverly Hills - where they both fit in and stand out in ways they never have before." WV Entertainment's Wilmer Valderrama and Kaitlin Saltzman will also executive produce the CBS Studios-based project, which is inspired by Galindo's New York Times essay of the same name. (Deadline.com)
QUEENS (ABC) - Elaine Del Valle will recur on the newcomer as Rosie, "a mysterious Latina woman who befriends Valeria and may have more to her story than she lets on." (Variety.com)
SHELTER (Amazon) - Adrian Greensmith, Abby Corrigan and Sage Linder are the latest bound for the YA drama pilot. Greensmith will play Arthur "Spoon" Spindell, "the fearless, impulsive, and chaotically knowledgeable son of Kasselton High's head custodian, who quickly becomes one of Mickey Bolitar's closest and most loyal friends." Corrigan then is Ema Winslow, "a grungy queer kid and Kasselton High's resident outcast"; with Linder as Rachel Caldwell, "the intimidating and popular captain of KHS's cheer squad with a dark secret." Harlan Coben is co-writing the series along with Charlotte Coben. He'll also serve as showrunner following the exit of the originally announced Ed Decter. Patricia Cardoso directed the pilot and will also executive produce alongside Erik Barmack and Rola Bauer for MGM Television. (Variety.com)
THIS FOOL (Hulu) - Laura Patalano and Julia Vera have joined the cast of the Chris Estrada-led comedy series. Patalano will play Esperanza: "Strong willed, pragmatic, loving, Esperanza lives with her 30-year-old son, Julio, and her mother, Maria (Vera)." And Vera will portray Maria, "Esperanza's mother, Julio's grandmother, who lives with them." (Deadline.com)
