BURBANK, Calif. � February 5, 2008 � Paced by solid performances from "American Gladiators," "The Biggest Loser" and "The Celebrity Apprentice," NBC averaged a 2.1 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers overall for the week of January 28-February 3, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. .

In a lopsided ratings week in which the weekly rankings were dominated by Fox's Super Bowl Sunday telecasts and two editions of "American Idol, " NBC placed five shows in the week's top 20 in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, with "American Gladiators" (#11), "The Biggest Loser" (#13, tie), "The Celebrity Apprentice" (#16), Wednesday's "Law & Order" (#17, tie) and Tuesday's encore "Law & Order: SVU" (#19).

Through 19 weeks of the 2007-08 season, Fox is leading in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, with NBC and ABC tied for second place. Season-to-date averages in adults 18-49 for the period September 24, 2007 through February 3, 2008 are Fox (4.1/11) NBC and ABC (3.2/8), CBS (3.1/8), Univision (1.5/4), CW (1.1/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1).

Through the first 19 weeks of the 2007-08 season, NBC is the only network to have grown younger in primetime. NBC's median age is nearly one year younger than it was last season, moving to 46.7 years this season from 47.5 years at this point last season. In this same comparison, ABC's median age has increased by 2.0 years (to 48.9 from 46.9), CBS's median age has increased to 52.9 years old from 51.6 and Fox's audience has aged to 44.0 from 43.5 years old.

Primetime averages for the week of January 28-February 3 in adults 18-49 were Fox (12.9/32), ABC (2.3/6), NBC (2.1/5), CBS (1.7/4), Univision (1.5/4), CW (0.8/2) and Telemundo (0.5/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were Fox (33.6 million), CBS (6.9 million), ABC (6.7 million), NBC (6.4 million), Univision (3.4 million), CW (2.2 million) and Telemundo (1.2 million).

NBC highlights for the week of January 28-February 3:

* On a Monday night impacted by coverage of the State of the Union address, "American Gladiators" was the #1 primetime telecast on any broadcast network in adults 18-49 and other key demographics. NBC won its third consecutive Monday night in adults 18-49.

* On Monday, "American Gladiators" won the first hour of primetime in adults 18-49, 18-34, 25-54 and other key demographics. "Gladiators" increased by 18 percent in 18-49 and 17 percent in total viewers from its first half hour to its second.

* On Tuesday, "The Biggest Loser" was the top-rated alternative to Fox's "Idol"-"House" lineup, with "Loser" matching the combined ABC-CBS competition over the two-hour block. "Loser" grew by 65 percent in 18-49 and 53 percent in total viewers from its first half-hour to its fourth.

* Also on Tuesday, an encore "Law & Order: SVU" dominated its time period, ranking #1 in all key ratings measures � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as in total viewers.

* NBC ranked #2 on Tuesday in all key demographic measures, including adults 18-49. Versus the same night last year, also against "American Idol," NBC was up 39 percent in adults 18-49, while all other competing networks were down by 20 percent or more year-to-year.

* On Wednesday, an encore telecast of "Deal or No Deal" was the top-rated alternative to "American Idol" in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, while "Law & Order" ranked #2 in the 10 p.m. ET hour in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults 25-54 and total viewers.

* On Thursday, a special two-hour edition of "The Celebrity Apprentice" surged by 41 percent in 18-49 rating and 36 percent in total viewers from its first half-hour to its last, to win the final 10:30-11 p.m. half-hour of primetime in adults 18-49 and other key measures.

* NBC was #1 on Friday night in adults 18-49, tied with Fox, and won the night outright in adults 25-54 and total viewers, with strong performances from "1 vs 100," "Friday Night Lights" and "Las Vegas."

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday, Jan. 28, from 8-9 p.m. ET, "American Gladiators" (3.7 rating, 10 share in adults 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in adults 18-49, 18-34, 25-54 and other key demographics. From its first to its second half-hour, "American Gladiators" grew by 18 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.0/11 from a 3.4/10) and by 17 percent, or more than 1.3 million persons, in total viewers (to 9.4 million from 7.9 million).

On a night impacted by coverage of the State of the Union address, "American Gladiators" was the #1 primetime telecast on any broadcast network in numerous key categories, including adults 18-49, adults 18-34, teens 12-17 and kids 2-11.

Monday from 9-10:33 p.m. ET, NBC News covered the President's State of the Union address and the Democratic response. NBC News analysis from 10:03-10:16 p.m. averaged a 1.9/5 in adults 18-49, a 2.4/6 in adults 25-54 and 7.1 million viewers overall. Other segments of the State of the Union coverage were sustaining programming and will not be counted in NBC's nightly or weekly averages.

Monday from 10:33-11 p.m. ET, a special encore telecast of "The Office" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in the time period among adults, men and women 18-34.

NBC ranked #1 in 18-49 on Monday night for the third consecutive Monday.

Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser 5" (3.3/8 share in adults 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall) was easily the top-rated alternative to Fox's "Idol"-"House" lineup, with "Loser" matching the combined ABC-CBS competition in adults 18-49 over the two hours. Versus NBC's results against "Idol" in the 8-9 p.m. hour on the same night last year, "Biggest Loser" was up 29 percent in 18-49 (2.7 vs. a 2.1 for an original "Dateline" on January 30, 2007). .

From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Biggest Loser" gained 65 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.3/10 from a 2.6/7) and 53 percent, or more than 3.6 million persons, in total viewers (to 10.4 million from 6.8 million).

At 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.9/8 in 18-49, 9.3 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in all key ratings measures � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers. "SVU" matched the ABC-CBS competition combined in adults 18-34.

NBC ranked #2 on Tuesday night in virtually all key demographics including adults 18-34, adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and teens 12-17, trailing only Fox with "Idol." NBC was up 39 percent in 18-49 rating versus the same night last year, also competing with "Idol" (3.2 vs. 2.3 on January 30, 2007), while all other competing networks exhibited year-to-year declines of 20 percent or more.

On Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore "Deal or No Deal" (2.3/6 in 18-49, 9.7 million viewers overall) was the top-rated alternative in the time period to "American Idol" in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key categories. From its first to its second half-hour, "Deal" increased by 30 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.6/7 from a 2.0/6) and by 25 percent, or more than 2.1 million persons, in total viewers (to 10.8 million from 8.6 million).

At 9 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" averaged a 2.3/6 in 18-49 and 8.9 million viewers overall, up 10 percent in 18-49 (2.3 vs. 2.1) and 8 percent in total viewers (8.9 million vs. 8.2 million) versus the prior week.

At 10 p.m. ET, "Law & Order" (3.1/8 in 18-49, 11.1 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults 25-54 and total viewers.

On Thursday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "My Name is Earl" delivered a 2.2/6 in 18-49 and 5.3 million viewers overall. At 8:30 p.m., a rebroadcast of "The Office" averaged a 1.9/5 in 18-49 and 4.4 million viewers overall.

Thursday from 9-11 p.m. ET, a special two-hour telecast of "The Celebrity Apprentice" averaged a 3.2/8 in adults 18-49 and 7.8 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Celebrity Apprentice" grew by 41 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.8/11 from a 2.7/7) and by 36 percent, or more than 2.4 million persons, in total viewers (to 9.3 million from 6.8 million).

In its climactic 10:30-11 p.m. half-hour, "The Celebrity Apprentice" surged to rank #1 in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and other key measures.

On Friday, February 1 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "1 vs 100" (2.0/6 in adults 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall) won the time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. From its first half-hour to its second, "1 vs 100" increased by 22 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.2/7 from a 1.8/6) and by 17 percent, or more than 1.2 million persons, in total viewers (to 8.5 million from 7.2 million).

Friday at 9 p.m. ET, "Friday Night Lights" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) matched its highest 18-49 rating since November 16. "Lights" ranked #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and other key measures.

Friday at 10 p.m. ET, "Las Vegas" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers) ranked #1 in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demos. "Vegas" matched its highest 18-49 rating since October 26.

NBC ranked #1 on Friday in adults 18-49, tied with Fox, and won the night outright in adults 25-54 and total viewers.

On Saturday, Feb. 2, at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "American Gladiators" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall) delivered NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period, excluding sports, since December 15. From its first half-hour to its second, "Gladiators" increased its 18-49 rating by 27 percent (to a 1.4/4 from a 1.1/4).

Saturday at 9 p.m. ET, en encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall) matched NBC's highest non-sports rating in the slot since November 24, 2007. At 10 p.m., a rebroadcast of "Law & Order" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall) matched NBC's highest non-sports 18-49 rating in this hour since December 15. "Law & Order" ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and #1 among men 18-49 and men 25-54.

On Sunday, February 2 from 7-9:08 p.m. ET, opposite Super Bowl competition, a special encore telecast of "The Biggest Loser" averaged a 0.6/1 in 18-49 and 1.9 million viewers overall. From 9:08-11:08 p.m., a second encore telecast of "The Biggest Loser" averaged a 1.1/2 in 18-49 and 3.0 million viewers overall.
