'LAW & ORDER' ON WEDNESDAY CAPTURES A TIME-PERIOD WIN IN ADULTS 18-49, TOTAL VIEWERS AND OTHER MEASURES

THROUGH 23 WEEKS OF THE 2007-08 SEASON, NBC IS TIED FOR #2 IN ADULTS 18-49 AND IS THE ONLY MAJOR NETWORK TO HAVE GROWN YOUNGER IN PRIMETIME

BURBANK, Calif. � March 4, 2008 � With key time-period wins from "Deal or No Deal" and "Law & Order," and with "The Biggest Loser" and "Deal" continuing to perform as the top alternatives to "American Idol" in their time periods, NBC averaged a 2.2 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 7.2 million viewers overall for the week of February 25-March 2, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC's primetime performance was paced by Monday's "Deal or No Deal," which was the #1 program on network television that night in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. This marks the sixth consecutive Monday in which "Deal" has been television's top-rated show in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49. In the weekly rankings, the Monday edition of "Deal" ranked #5 among all programs in total viewers -- trailing only three primetime editions of "American Idol" and the premiere of "Oprah's Big Give" -- and #10 in adults 18-49.

Through 23 weeks of the 2007-08 season, Fox is leading in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, with NBC and ABC tied in second place. Season-to-date averages in adults 18-49 for the period September 24, 2007 through March 2, 2008 are Fox (4.3/11), NBC and ABC (3.1/8), CBS (3.0/8), Univision (1.5/4), CW (1.0/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1).

Through the first 23 weeks of the 2007-08 season, NBC is the only network to have grown younger in primetime, and NBC is now the "second-youngest" of the major broadcast networks. NBC's median age has moved to 47.2 years this season from 47.7 years at this point last season. In this same comparison, ABC's median age has increased by 2.1 years (to 48.8 from 46.7), CBS's median age has increased by 1.2 years to 52.9 years old from 51.7 and Fox's median age has increased by 1.0 years to 43.7 from 42.7 years old at this point last season.

Primetime averages for the week of February 25-March 2 in adults 18-49 were Fox (5.1/14), ABC (2.7/7), NBC and CBS (2.2/6), Univision (1.5/4), CW (0.9/2) and Telemundo (0.5/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were Fox (13.7 million), CBS (8.1 million), ABC (7.9 million), NBC (7.2 million), Univision (3.5 million), CW (2.2 million) and Telemundo (1.1 million).

NBC highlights for the week of February 25-March 2:

* On Monday, "Deal or No Deal" was the #1 program on network television in both adults 18-49 and total viewers. The last six Monday telecasts of "Deal" have each scored the highest 18-49 rating for any program on any network on those respective nights.

* Monday's "Deal or No Deal" won its tough time period in adults, men and women 18-49 and 25-54 as well as in total viewers.

* On Tuesday, "The Biggest Loser" was the top-rated alternative to Fox's "American Idol"-led lineup in adults 18-49 and other key measures. "Biggest Loser" gained, from its first half-hour to its fourth, 36 percent in 18-49 rating and 34 percent in total viewers.

* NBC ranked #2 on Tuesday in adults 18-49, behind only "Idol"-fueled Fox. NBC has finished #2 in 18-49 on all seven Tuesdays so far this season in which Fox has run "American idol," and has ranked #1 or #2 for the last 13 Tuesdays in a row.

* On Wednesday, "Deal or No Deal" was the top-rated alternative to "American Idol" in its time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and other measures, topping such first-run, unscripted competition as CBS's "Big Brother," ABC's "Wife Swap" and CW's "America's Next Top Model 4." NBC ranked #2 for the night in adults 18-49 and total viewers for the third Wednesday in a row.

* Also on Wednesday, "Law & Order" won its time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures. In adults 18-49, "Law & Order" prevailed by a 43 percent margin over CBS's "CSI: NY" encore and by a 94 percent margin over ABC's time-period premiere of "Men in Trees."

* On Thursday, "The Celebrity Apprentice" continues to pace well ahead of the most recent cycle in the "Apprentice" franchise, with Thursday's episode, the eighth of the current cycle, topping the eighth episode of "Apprentice 6" by 11 percent in 18-49 rating. Season-to-date, the increase for "Celebrity Apprentice" over "Apprentice 6" is 17 percent in adults 18-49.

* Also on Thursday, "Lipstick Jungle" improved on its prior week's 18-49 rating and in its fourth week has maintained 86 percent of its premiere rating. "Lipstick Jungle" finished within one-tenth of a rating point of the time-period lead in adults 18-49 and won the time period among women 18-34.

* On Friday, the second hour of a two-hour "Dateline NBC" ranked #1 in the 10-11 p.m. hour in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. "Dateline" reported a 71 percent increase in adults 18-49 and a 46 percent gain in total viewers from its first half-hour to its fourth.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of February 25-March 2:

On Monday, Feb. 25, from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (4.3 rating, 11 share in adults 18-49, 15.4 million viewers overall) won its time period in adults, men and women 18-49, adults, men and women 25-54 and total viewers.

"Deal or No Deal" was the #1 program on network television Monday night in both adults 18-49 and total viewers. The last six Monday telecasts of "Deal" have each scored the highest 18-49 rating for any program on any network on those respective nights.

"Deal" surged by 36 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.9/13 from a 3.6/10) and by 26 percent, or more than 3.5 million persons, in total viewers (to 17.2 million from 13.7 million) from its first to its second half-hour, despite competition from such first-run programs as ABC's made-for-TV movie "A Raisin in the Sun" and the time-period debut of Fox's "Moment of Truth."

Monday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "My Dad is Better Than You Dad" (2.8/7 in 18-49, 7.8 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the hour among men 18-34 and teens 12-17 and #1 among kids 2-11.

Monday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Medium" (2.5/7 in 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the time period among adults 18-49 (tied) and adults 25-54.

Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser 5" (2.9/7 share in adults 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall) was the top-rated alternative to Fox's "American Idol"-led lineup in adults 18-49 and most key ratings categories

"Biggest Loser" gained, from its first half-hour to its fourth, 36 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.4/8 from a 2.5/7) and 34 percent, or more than 2.2 million persons, in total viewers (to 8.7 million from 6.5 million). Tuesday from 10-11 p.m., "quarterlife" averaged a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall.

NBC ranked #2 on Tuesday night in adults 18-49, behind only "Idol"-fueled Fox. NBC has finished #2 in 18-49 on all seven Tuesdays so far this season in which Fox has run "American Idol," and has ranked #1 or #2 for the last 13 Tuesdays in a row.

On Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (2.2/6 in 18-49, 9.3 million viewers overall) was the time period's top-rated alternative to "American Idol" in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, outscoring such unscripted competition as CBS's "Big Brother," ABC's "Wife Swap" and CW's "America's Next Top Model."

Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2.2/5 in 18-49, 8.2 million viewers) was up 16 percent in 18-49 rating and 7 percent in total viewers versus the prior week. From its first half-hour to its second, "Criminal Intent" increased by 32 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.5/6 from a 1.9/5) and by 20 percent, or more than 1.4 million persons in total viewers (to 9.0 million from 7.5 million).

Wednesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Law & Order" (3.3/9 in 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures. "Law & Order" captured its highest 18-49 rating and total viewer tally in six weeks (since January 16). In adults 18-49, "Law & Order" prevailed by a 43 percent margin over CBS's "CSI: NY" encore (3.3/9 vs. a 2.3/6) and by a 94 percent margin over the time-period premiere of ABC's "Men in Trees" (3.3/9 vs. 1.7/5 for "Cashmere Mafia").

NBC ranked #2 on Wednesday night in adults 18-49 and total viewers for the third Wednesday in a row.

On Thursday, Feb. 28 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Office" averaged a 1.7/5 in 18-49 and 4.0 million viewers overall.

Thursday from 9-10:01 p.m. ET, "The Celebrity Apprentice" (3.1/8 in adults 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall) built by 82 percent in 18-49 rating and 92 percent in total viewers versus its lead-in from the previous hour.

"Celebrity Apprentice" continues to pace solidly ahead of the most recent cycle in the "Apprentice" franchise, with Thursday's episode, the ninth of the current cycle, topping the ninth episode of "Apprentice 6" by 11 percent in 18-49 rating (3.1 vs. a 2.8 on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at 10 p.m.). Season-to-date, the increase for "Celebrity Apprentice" over "Apprentice 6" is 17 percent in adults 18-49 in "live plus same day" averages.

Thursday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "Lipstick Jungle" (2.5/7 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) improved on its prior-week 18-49 rating (a 2.4/6 on February 21), and in its fourth week has maintained 86 percent of its premiere rating (a 2.9 on February 7). "Lipstick Jungle" finished within one-tenth of a rating point of the time-period lead in adults 18-49 and won the time period among women 18-34.

On Friday, February 29 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Amne$ia" averaged a 1.3/4 in adults 18-49 and 5.0 million viewers overall.

Friday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 1.9/6 in 18-49 and 6.7 million viewers overall. For its second hour, from 10-11 p.m., "Dateline" ranked #1 in adults 18-49, total viewers and most key ratings measures.

From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" reported a 71 percent increase in adults 18-49 (to a 2.4/7 from a 1.4/5) and a 46 percent increase, or more than 2.5 million persons, in total viewers (to 8.0 million from 5.5 million).

On Saturday, March 1, at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" averaged a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 3.2 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: SVU" averaged a 1.2/4 in 18-49 and 5.3 million viewers overall. At 10 p.m., an encore telecast of "Law & Order" delivered a 1.5/5 in 18-49 and 6.5 million viewers overall. NBC's primetime performance built steadily on Saturday, increasing by 150 percent in 18-49 rating and 118 percent in total viewers from the first half-hour of primetime to the last (to a 1.5/5 in 18-49 and 6.6 million viewers overall from a 0.6/3 and 3.0 million viewers overall).

On Sunday, March 2 from 7-9 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 1.9/5 in 18-49 and 7.3 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" reported a 71 percent increase in both 18-49 rating (to a 2.4/6 from a 1.4/4) and in overall viewership (to 9.6 million from 5.6 million). At 9 p.m., "Deal or No Deal" delivered a 2.2/5 in 18-49 and 8.6 million viewers overall. At 10 p.m., an encore telecast of "Law & Order: SVU" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.
