NBC IMPROVES ON THE SAME WEEK LAST YEAR BY 7 PERCENT IN 18-49 RATING AND IS THE ONLY NET AMONG ABC, CBS, NBC AND FOX TO GROW VS. THE YEAR-AGO WEEK

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - April 10, 2012 - With the Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" both ranking among the week's top five entertainment telecasts in adults 18-49 and adults 18-34, NBC has generated an average 1.6 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.0 million viewers overall for the week of April 2-8, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Monday's "The Voice" ranked #4 for the week among all primetime shows on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and was the #3 entertainment telecast, marking the 10th week in a row "The Voice" has ranked #1, 2 or 3 among primetime series on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox. The Tuesday debut of "The Voice" Results Show was the #5 entertainment program of the week in 18-49 and #6 overall.

Also ranking among last week's top-30 programs in 18-49 were NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice" and "Smash" (tied for #22), "The Biggest Loser" (tied for #25) and "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (tied for #28) (rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows).

In the valuable adult 18-34 demo, "The Voice" tied for #2 overall and tied as the #1 entertainment program with Fox's Wednesday edition of "American Idol," while the "Voice" Results Show tied for #5, "Smash" tied for #13 and "Community" and "Off Their Rockers" tied for #24.

Primetime averages for the week of April 2-8 in adults 18-49 were CBS (2.5/8), Fox (2.1/6), ABC (1.8/5), NBC (1.6/5) and CW (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (10.3 million), ABC (7.7 million), Fox (6.6 million), NBC (5.0 million) and CW (1.0 million).

Versus the same week last year, NBC was up 7 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 1.6 vs. a 1.5) and is the only network among ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox to finish up versus the year-ago week.

NBC highlights for the week of April 2-8

* On Monday, "The Voice" was the #1 non-sports telecast of the night in adults 18-48, 18-34 and 25-54 and won its time period head to head over CBS's comedy repeats and NCAA basketball coverage ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

* Also on Monday, "Smash" equaled its rating of the prior week, despite this week's NCAA basketball competition, and beat NBC's time-period average for the season prior to "Smash" by 110 percent in 18-49.

* On Tuesday, "The Biggest Loser" won its hour in adults 18-49 with an 11 percent gain versus the prior week in the 8-9 p.m. ET hour.

* Also on Tuesday, "The Voice" Results Show scored the night's #1 rating in adults 18-49, delivering NBC's highest rating in the time period so far this season.

* NBC tied for #1 Tuesday night in adults 18-49, its first share of the Tuesday lead since December 20.

* On Wednesday, the regular-slot debut of "Off Their Rockers" hit.a 12-week time-period high for NBC in 18-49 rating and a four-month slot high in total viewers.

* On Thursday, "Up All Night" built on its 18-49 lead-in from an encore "Office" by 20 percent.

* On Friday, "Who Do You Think You Are?" took second place in its time period in total viewers.

* Friday's "Grimm" grew week to week by 8 percent in 18-49 rating and 7 percent in total viewers.

* On Sunday, "Harry's Law" ranked #2 in its time period in total viewers and grew in adults 18-49 by 25 percent versus its prior telecast.

* Also on Sunday, "The Celebrity Apprentice" delivered a five-week high to win its time period in adults 18-49. "Apprentice" increased its 18-49 rating from its first to its fourth half-hour by 41 percent

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of April 2-8:

On Monday, April 2 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (4.1 rating, 11 share in adults 18-49, 10.8 million viewers overall) ranked as the #1 non-sports telecast of the night in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and teens 12-17 on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW. "The Voice" finished within 0.4 of a point of the prior week's 18-49 rating against this week's exceptional competition of CBS's NCAA Basketball Championship. "The Voice" finished #1 in its time period in adults 18-49 ahead of CBS's combination of comedy repeats and basketball coverage. Head to head, "The Voice" also outscored ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" by a 41 percent margin in 18-49 rating (4.1 vs. 2.9). From its first half-hour to its fourth, "The Voice" grew by 11 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.2 from a 3.8). Versus NBC's averages in the time period this season prior to "The Voice," this week's telecast is up 128 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 4.1 vs. a 1.8) and up 94 percent in total viewers (10.830 million vs. 5.587 million).

"The Voice" has now generated NBC's nine highest non-Olympic 18-49 ratings in this slot in four years (since February 18, 2008).

Monday at 10 p.m. ET, "Smash" (2.1/5 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) equaled its rating of the prior week, despite this week's exceptional competition from CBS's NCAA Basketball Championship. In the time period, "Smash" tied for #2 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and ranked #2 outright in women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34. Note that "Smash" grows by an average 42 percent above these next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 ratings when Nielsen adds the extra time-shifted viewing included in "live plus seven day" results. "Smash" has now delivered NBC's nine highest in-season 18-49 ratings in this time period since January 31, 2011. Last night's "Smash" beat NBC's time-period average this season prior to "Smash" by 110 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 2.1 vs. a 1.0) and by 56 percent in total viewers (6.032 million vs. 3.864 million).

On Tuesday, April 3, from 8-9 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser 13" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 6.4 million viewers overall) won the hour among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49. Week to week, "Biggest Loser" was up in the 8-9 p.m. hour by 11 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 2.0 vs. a 1.8 from 8-9) and up in the hour by 22 percent or more than 1.1 million persons (6.4 million vs. 5.3 million). "Biggest Loser" grew from its first half-hour to its second in every key category, including gains of 35 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.3 from a 1.7) and 15 percent in total viewers (6.9 million vs. 6.0 million).

Tuesday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "The Voice" Results Show (3.2/9 in 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall) was the #1 telecast of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49. "The Voice" won the hour in 18-49 by a 14 percent margin over ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" results show (3.2 vs. 2.7) and led from 9-9:30 over Fox's "New Girl" by a 35 percent advantage (3.1 vs. 2.3 for that half-hour). "The Voice" set season highs for NBC in the time slot, while improving on the network's season averages in this time period by 39 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 3.2 vs. a 2.3, "live plus same day") and by 33 percent or more than 2.1 million persons in total viewers (8.5 million vs. 6.3 million).

Tuesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Fashion Star" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall) matched its rating of the prior week in adults 18-49 and was up 3 percent in total viewers (4.111 million vs. 4.000 million). "Fashion Star" ranked #2 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, tied for #1 in women 18-34 and #1 outright in adults 18-34 and men 18-34.

For the night, NBC tied with ABC for #1 in adults 18-49 and was also #1 outright in adults 18-34, women 18-34 and women 18-49. It's NBC's first share of the Tuesday 18-49 lead since December 20.

On Wednesday, April 4 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, the regular-slot debut of "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall) captured NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this half-hour in 12 weeks (since January 11) and biggest overall audience in the time period in four months (since November 30, 2011). In an intensely competitive time period opposite Fox's "American Idol," CBS's "Survivor: One World" and ABC's encore "The Middle," "Off Their Rockers" improved on NBC's time-period average this season by 12 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 1.9 vs. a 1.7) and topped the network's season average in total viewers by 54 percent or 2.6 million persons (7.397 million vs. 4.804 million).

Wednesday at 8:30 ET, the premiere of "Best Friends Forever" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall) generated NBC's biggest overall audience in the time period since February 1, in a highly competitive time period opposite Fox's "American Idol," CBS's "Survivor: One World" and ABC's rebroadcast of "Suburgatory."

Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, "Bent" delivered a 0.8/2 in 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall. At 9:30 p.m., a second telecast of "Bent" averaged a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 1.9 million viewers overall.

Wedneday at 10 p.m. ET, "Rock Center with Brian Williams" delivered a 0.8/2 in 18-49 and 3.0 million viewers overall, to equal its 18-49 rating of the prior week. "Rock Center" grew from its first half-hour to its second in adults18-34 and men 18-34.

On Thursday, April 5 at 8 p.m. ET, "Community" averaged a 1.3/5 in 18-49 and 3.0 million viewers overall. In an intensely competitive time period versus CBS's "Big Bang Theory," Fox's "American Idol" and ABC's "Missing," "Community" is tied for #2 among those networks in men 18-34.

Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET, "30 Rock" averaged a 1.2/4 in 18-49 and 2.8 million viewers overall.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "The Office" delivered a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 2.5 million viewers overall.

Thursday at 9:31 ET, "Up All Night" (1.2/3 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in from an "Office" encore by 20 percent in 18-49 rating and 3 percent in total viewers.

Thursday at 10 p.m. ET, "Awake" averaged a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall. Note that "Awake" is one of the most time-shifted shows on television, with the "live plus same day" rating for its first three telecasts growing by 59 percent when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" ratings for that week.

Friday, April 6 at 8 p.m. ET, "Who Do You Think You Are?" averaged a 0.8/3 in 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers overall and ranked #2 in the time period in total viewers. .

Friday at 9 p.m. ET, "Grimm" delivered a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall, growing week to week by 8 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.3 from a 1.2) and 7 percent in total viewers (4.5 million vs. 4.2 million). "Grimm" built on its lead-in by 63 percent in 18-49 rating.

Friday at 10 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers overall). From its first half-hour to its second, "Dateline" grew by 10 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.1 from a 1.0).

On Saturday, April 7 at 8 p.m. ET, "Escape Routes" averaged a 0.3/1 in 18-49 and 1.1 million viewers overall, growing week to week by a tenth of a rating point in adults 18-49 and 2 percent in total viewers (1.114 million vs. 1.090 million).

Saturday at 9 p.m. ET, an encore of "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall) scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period since February 11 (a rebroadcast of "The Voice").

Saturday at 9:30 p.m. ET, an encore of "Best Friend Forever" averaged a 0.5/1 in 18-49 and 1.6 million viewers overall.

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" captured a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 3.0 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "SVU" grew in most key ratings categories, including gains of 33 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 0.8 rating from a 0.6), 43 percent in adults 25-54 (1.0 vs. 0.7) and 20 percent in total viewers (3.2 million vs. 2.7 million).

On Sunday, April 8 from 7-8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) matched its 18-49 rating of the prior two weeks and grew week to week in total viewers by 9 percent (5.062 million vs. 4.655 million). In the time period, "Dateline" tied for #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49. From its first half-hour to its second, "Dateline" grew by 22 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.1 from a 0.9) and 19 percent in total viewers (5.5 million vs. 4.6 million).

Sunday from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Harry's Law" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall) grew versus its prior telecast by 25 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.0 from a 0.8 on March 25). This week's airing grew from its first half-hour to its second by 22 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.1 from a 0.9) and by 14 percent or 1.0 million persons in total viewers (8.2 million vs. 7.2 million). Versus NBC's non-sports average in the time period last season, "Harry's Law" is up 63 percent in total viewers (7.743 million vs. 4.756 million). "Harry's Law" ranked #2 in the hour in total viewers.

Sunday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "The Celebrity Apprentice" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall) won its time period in adults 18-49 with the highest "Apprentice" 18-49 and total-viewers results in five weeks (since March 4). Versus its 8-11 p.m. telecast of the prior week, "Celebrity Apprentice" was up 17 percent in 18-49 rating (2.1 vs. 1.8) and up 9 percent in total viewers (6.523 million vs. 5.964 million). This week's "Apprentice" built on NBC's results in the prior hour from 8-9 p.m. by 110 percent in 18-49 rating.

From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Celebrity Apprentice" grew by 41 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.4 from a 1.7), with strong growth throughout the two-hour time period. The half-hour track was: 1.7, 1.9, 2.2, 2.4. In total viewers, "Celebrity Apprentice" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 29 percent or 1.7 million persons (to 7.5 million from 5.8 million). For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "The Celebrity Apprentice" is #1 or tied for #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in all key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.
