SUNDAY'S 'CELEBRITY APPRENTICE' RANKS #1 FOR ITS TWO-HOUR TIME PERIOD IN 18-49

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - April 24, 2012 - With the Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" both ranking among the week's top seven primetime telecasts in adults 18-49 and top five in adults 18-34, NBC has generated an average 1.6 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.2 million viewers overall for the week of April 16-22, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC's 1.6 for the week is up 7 percent versus a 1.5 the same week last year, marking the 12th time in 13 weeks NBC has topped its 18-49 rating for the same week last year. NBC was also up 8 percent versus the year-ago week in total viewers (5.2 million vs. 4.8 million), making it the only network among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox to improve on its year-ago results in either 18-49 or total viewers.

Monday's "The Voice" ranked #5 for the week among all primetime shows on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, marking the 12th week in a row "The Voice" has finished in the top five among primetime series on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox. Tuesday's "The Voice" Results Show tied for #7 for the week in 18-49. "The Biggest Loser," "The Office" and "The Celebrity Apprentice" also ranked in the week's top 30 in 18-49.

In the valuable adult 18-34 demo, Monday's "The Voice" ranked #2, Tuesday's "The Voice" finished #5, "The Office" tied for #9, "Parks and Recreation" ranked #15, "30 Rock" tied for #17, "Smash" tied for #22, "Community" tied for #25 and "The Biggest Loser" tied for #28.

Primetime averages for the week of April 16-22 in adults 18-49 were Fox (2.2/7), ABC (1.9/5), CBS (1.8/5), NBC (1.6/5) and CW (0.5/2). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (8.2 million), ABC (7.7 million), Fox (6.9 million), NBC (5.2 million) and CW (1.3 million).

NBC highlights for the week of April 16-22

* On Monday, "The Voice" won its time period in adults 18-48, topping ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and each of CBS's four comedies head-to-head. "The Voice" was up 106 percent versus NBC's time-period average prior to "The Voice" and up 79 percent in total viewers.

* Also on Monday, "Smash" beat NBC's time-period average for the season prior to "Smash" by 90 percent in 18-49 and 54 percent in total viewers.

* NBC led Monday in adults 18-49 for the ninth time in 11 weeks.

* On Tuesday, NBC ranked #1 in adults 18-49, marking the third consecutive Tuesday that NBC has ranked #1 or tied for #1.

* Tuesday's "The Biggest Loser" delivered NBC's weightiest 18-49 rating in that hour in 14 weeks and biggest overall audience in more than four months.

* Also on Tuesday, "The Voice" Results Show delivered the #1 rating of the night in adults 18-49 for a third week in a row and won its hour by a 32 percent margin over ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

* On Wednesday, "Off Their Rockers" has in its first three weeks delivered NBC's three biggest overall audiences in the time period since November.

* "Law & Order: SVU" captured NBC's biggest overall audience in the Wednesday 10-11 p.m. ET hour in eight weeks.

* On Thursday, "30 Rock" delivered week-to-week gains for a second straight week.

* Also on Thursday, "The Office" tied for #1 in the 9 p.m. ET half-hour in the valuable adult 18-34 demographic.

* Thursday's "Parks and Recreation" moved to the 9:30 p.m. ET half-hour with a 77 percent retention of its 18-49 lead-in from "The Office," up from "Parks'" 69 percent average in the same time period last season.

* NBC tied for the Friday nightlong win among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, with "Dateline NBC" and "Grimm" tying for the #1 rating of the night on those networks.

* Friday's "Dateline" generated the show's highest 18-49 and 25-54 ratings since February 10 and biggest overall audience since December 16.

* On Sunday, "Dateline NBC" reported its second highest 18-49 rating for a Sunday telecast since February 12.

* Sunday's "Harry's Law" sustained its biggest overall audience since March 11.

* Also on Sunday, "The Celebrity Apprentice" won its two-hour time period in adults 18-49 and stretched its margin to 35 percent in its second hour over ABC's second-place Hallmark movie "Firelight."

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday, April 16 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (3.7 rating, 10 share in adults 18-49, 10.0 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in its time period versus ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW in adults 18-49 and other key demographics, topping CBS's Monday comedy lineup, all in original, by a 9 percent margin in 18-49 (with a 3.7 rating vs. a 3.4 from 8-10 p.m.) and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" by a 28 percent advantage (3.7 vs. 2.9). "The Voice" also out-rated each CBS comedy individually head-to-head in 18-49, including "Two and a Half Men" by a 3 percent margin (3.9 vs. 3.8 from 9-9:30). From its first half-hour to its fourth, "The Voice" grew by 22 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.9 from a 3.2).

The Voice" has now generated NBC's 11 highest non-Olympic 18-49 ratings in this slot since November 30, 2008. Versus NBC's averages in the time period this season prior to "The Voice," this week's telecast is up 106 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 3.7 vs. a 1.8) and up 79 percent in total viewers (10.0 million vs. 5.6 million).

Monday at 10 p.m. ET, "Smash" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) finished #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, within 0.2 of a rating point of first place, and was #1 in women 18-49 (tie) and adults, men and women 18-34. "Smash" has now delivered NBC's 11 highest in-season 18-49 ratings in this time period since January 31, 2011. This week's "Smash" beat NBC's time-period average this season prior to "Smash" by 90 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 1.9 vs. a 1.0) and by 54 percent in total viewers (5.950 million vs. 3.864 million).

Monday's "The Voice" and "Smash" led NBC to the nightlong ratings win among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and other key demographics. NBC has now won nine of the last 11 Mondays in 18-49, and all nine Mondays that haven't featured major sports competition, after having not won an in-season Monday with regular programming in four years

On Tuesday, April 17, from 8-9 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser 13" (2.3/7 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall) scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period in 14 weeks (since January 10) and delivered the network's biggest overall audience in the hour in more than four months (since December 6). "Biggest Loser" is up week to week for a second week in a row in 18-49 and a third week in a row in total viewers to attract its biggest audience so far during the current cycle. Week to week, "Loser" was up 9 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.3 from a 2.1) and 7 percent total viewers (7.0 million vs. 6.5 million). "Biggest Loser" finished 0.1 of a point behind Fox's #2 "Glee" in the hour, the smallest head-to-head deficit to date for "Loser" versus an original "Glee." "Biggest Loser" ranked #2 in the hour in adults 25-54 and total viewers.

Tuesday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "The Voice" Results Show (3.3/9 in 18-49, 8.9 million viewers overall) was the #1 telecast of the night in adults 18-49 and other key demos on a night that included original telecasts of CBS's "NCIS," ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and Fox's "Glee" and "The New Girl." It's the third week in a row "The Voice" has been Tuesday's #1 telecast in 18-49. "The Voice" won its hour in 18-49 by a 32 percent margin (with a 3.3 rating vs. a 2.5 for ABC's second-place "Dancing With the Stars). "The Voice" is #1 or tied for #1 in the hour among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in every key demographic -- adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

Tuesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Fashion Star" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall) tied for #2 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, within 0.2 of a rating point of first place, and ranked #1 among those networks in adults 18-34.

NBC won the night in adults 18-49 and has been #1 or tied for #1 in adults 18-49 for the last three Tuesdays in a row.

On Wednesday, April 18 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" captured a 1.6/5 in 18-49 a nd 6.0 million viewers overall, matching its 18-49 rating of the prior week. In its first three weeks, "Off Their Rockers" has delivered NBC's three biggest overall audiences in the Wednesday 8-8:30 time period since November 30, 2011. In an intensely competitive time period opposite Fox's "American Idol," CBS's "Survivor" and ABC's encore "The Middle," "Off Their Rockers" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34 and women 18-34. This week's telecast of "Off Their Rockers" improved on NBC's time-period average this season prior to "Rockers" by 24 percent or 1.2 million persons in total viewers (6.0 million vs. 4.8 million).

Wednesday at 8:30 ET, "Best Friends Forever" averaged a 0.8/2 in 18-49 and 2.8 million viewers overall in a highly competitive time period opposite Fox's "American Idol," CBS's "Survivor" and ABC's "Suburgatory." "Best Friends Forever" was up week to week by 2 percent in total viewers (2.831 million vs. 2.784 million).

Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, "Rock Center with Brian Williams" delivered a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall, improving versus the prior week by 0.1 of a rating point in both adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 (0.8 vs. 0.7). This week's "Rock Center" grew from its first half-hour to its second by 17 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 0.7 rating from a 0.6) and 29 percent in adults 25-54 (0.9 vs. 0.7).

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.6/4 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) grew from its first half-hour to its second by 13 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.7 rating from a 1.5), 22 percent in adults 25-54 (2.2 vs. 1.8) and 16 percent in total viewers (6.4 million vs. 5.5 million). "SVU" built on its lead-in by 167 percent in 18-49 rating and 133 percent in total viewers. In total viewers, "Law & Order: SVU" grew week to week by 7 percent (to 6.0 million from 5.6 million) to score NBC's top total-viewer result in the Wednesday, 10 p.m. ET hour in eight weeks (since February 22).

On Thursday, April 19 at 8 p.m. ET, "Community" averaged a 1.3/5 in 18-49 and 2.8 million viewers overall in a highly competitive time period versus Fox's "American Idol," ABC's "Missing" and CBS's "Big Bang Theory" encore. In the time period, "Community" is currently tied for #2 in the half-hour among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34 and #2 outright in men 18-34.

Thursday at 8:30 ET, "30 Rock" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall) delivered week-to-week gains for a second straight week. The April 19 "30 Rock" is up versus the prior week by 7 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.5 from a 1.4) and 3 percent in total viewers (3.063 million vs. 2.984 million) and up versus two weeks ago by 25 percent in 18-49 (1.5 vs. 1.2) and 10 percent in total viewers (3.063 million vs. 2.786 million). In a competitive time period versus Fox's "American Idol," CBS's "Rules of Engagement" and ABC's "Missing," "30 Rock" is #2 in the slot among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults, men and women 18-34.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, "The Office" (2.2/6 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) matched its 18-49 rating of the prior week. "The Office" built on its lead-in by 47 percent in 18-49 rating and 42 percent in total viewers. In a competitive time period versus ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," Fox's "Touch" and CBS's "Person of Interest" encore, "The Office" tied for #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-34 and was #1 outright in men 18-34.

Thursday at 9:31 ET, "Parks and Recreation" (1.7/5 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall) moved to the 9:30 half-hour with a 77 percent retention of its 18-49 lead-in from "The Office," up from "Parks'" 69 percent average retention in this slot last sason. Returning to NBC's Thursday lineup after a six-week break, "Parks" matched NBC's top 18-49 rating in the 9:30 half-hour in 11 weeks (since February 2). Against the concluding half-hours of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," Fox's "Touch" and CBS's "Person of Interest," "Parks" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-34 and #1 in men 18-34.

Thursday at 10 p.m. ET, "Awake" (0.9/2 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall) equaled its 18-49 rating of the prior two weeks and hit a three-week high in total viewers. "Awake" was up in total viewers versus the prior week by 5 percent in total viewers (2.8 million vs. 2.7 million), and versus two weeks ago of 10 percent (2.8 million vs. 2.6 million). Note that "Awake" is one of the most time-shifted shows on television, with the "live plus same day" rating for its first four telecasts growing by 61 percent when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" ratings.

Friday, April 20 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Who Do You Think You Are?" averaged a 0.8/3 in 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers overall.

Friday at 9 p.m. ET, "Grimm" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) tied for the #1 rating of the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49. In the time period, "Grimm" ranked #1 among those networks in adults 18-49 and also finished #1 or tied for #1 in most other key demos. "Grimm" built on its lead-in by 75 percent in 18-49 rating.

Friday at 10 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) tied for the #1 ratings of the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and was #1 outright among those networks for the night in adults 25-54. "Dateline" was up week to week by 40 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.4 from a 1.0), 33 percent in adults 25-54 (2.0 vs. 1.5) and 23 percent in total viewers (5.807million vs. 4.719 million). "Dateline" generated its highest Friday 18-49 and 25-54 ratings since February 10 and biggest overall audience for a Friday telecast since December 16. In the time period, "Dateline" ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults, men and women 25-54 and most other key demographics. Friday's "Dateline" featured Amy Robach's report on the story of Bernadette Sugrim, who feared for her life after being told early in her marriage that her husband was a killer.

NBC's Friday lineup tied for #1 for the night in adults 18-49 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox and was #1 outright among those networks in adults 25-54.

On Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m. ET, "Escape Routes" averaged a 0.3/1 in 18-49 and 1.1 million viewers overall. "Escape Routes" is up a tenth of a point in adults 18-49 versus the prior week (to a 0.3 from a 0.2) and up 10 percent in total viewers (1.1 million vs. 1.0 million). At 9 p.m., "The Firm" averaged a 0.3/1 in 18-49 and 1.8 million viewers overall. And at 10 p.m. ET, an encore "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" delivered a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 3.0 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "SVU" grew by 33 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 0.8 rating from a 0.6), 25 percent in adults 25-54 (1.0 vs. 0.8) and 26 percent in total viewers (3.4 million vs. 2.7 million).

On Sunday, April 22 from 7-8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) delivered its second-highest Sunday rating in 18-49 since Feb. 12, behind only the prior week's 1.3. From its first half-hour to its second, "Dateline" grew by 18 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.3 rating from a 1.1) and 23 percent in adults 25-54 (1.6 vs. 1.3).

Sunday from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Harry's Law" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall) generated its biggest overall audience since March 9 and maintained its 18-49 rating of the prior week. Versus NBC's non-sports average in the time period last season, "Harry's Law" is up 81 percent in total viewers (8.620 million vs. 4.756 million).

Sunday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "The Celebrity Apprentice" (2.1/5 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in its time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and other key categories. "Apprentice" increased its 18-49 rating through each successive half-hour, growing from its first half-hour to its fourth by 29 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.2 from a 1.7) and by 16 percent in total viewers (to 6.9 million from 6.0 million). "Apprentice" built on NBC's results in the prior hour from 8-9 p.m. by 133 percent in 18-49 rating.

For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "The Celebrity Apprentice" ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 by a 35 percent margin (2.3 vs. 1.7 for ABC's second-place Hallmark Hall of Fame movie "Firelight").
