LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC has issued a summons for its own "jury" as the network has scheduled "In the Jury Room," a sequel to last summer's documentary series "State v."
"Jury" is set to run Tuesdays at 10:00/9:00c for six weeks beginning August 10. Like "State v.," the series will track the prosecutors, defense attorneys and jurors of several cases, including an Adams County, Colorado murder trial.
The news was just one of several moves quietly announced this week by the Alphabet:
-- "Romy & Michele: In the Beginning," the network's long completed prequel to the 1997 feature film "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," once again has an air date: Thursday, August 26 at 9:00/8:00c. The telefilm, which stars Alex Breckenridge, Katherine Heigl, Kelly Brook and Paula Abdul, was last scheduled for March of this year but ended up being shelved for unspecified reasons.
-- ABC plans to run a two-hour tribute special to Barbara Walters on Friday, September 17 at 9:00/8:00c. Walters is exiting the series after more than 25 years.
-- The network has scheduled the series finale of its much-ballyhooed comedy "The Drew Carey Show" for Wednesday, September 8 at 9:30/8:30c. Titled simply "Finale," the half-hour marks the end of the show's quickly burned-off ninth and final season as ABC will have run all 26 installments in just 15 weeks.
-- Mark Valley ("Keen Eddie") has been added the cast of the upcoming "The Practice" spin-off "Boston Legal." He'll play Brad Chase, "a partner in the law firm of Crane, Poole & Schmidt, and a consummate guy's guy. Charming and diplomatic, Chase most recently headed up the Washington, DC office, and has been recruited to Boston to keep an eye on loose cannon senior partner Denny Crane (William Shatner). He also finds himself in an unending test of wills with fellow attorney Alan Shore (James Spader)," according to a network press release. Valley last starred in the drama pilot "Harry Green and Eugene" for the Alphabet this past development season.
