NBC TO AIR SPECIAL TWO-HOUR "THREE WISHES" EPISODE OCTOBER 7

WISHES GRANTED IN BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA FEATURE AN EVACUATED HURRICANE KATRINA FAMILY, AN EXTRAORDINARY FATHER AND AN ASPIRING YOUNG SINGER

BURBANK, Calif. -- October 3, 2005 -- NBC will air a special two-hour episode of "Three Wishes" on Friday, October 7 (8-10 p.m. ET), with stories involving a Hurricane Katrina family evacuated from their home in New Orleans, a terminally-ill father with a dream for his family and a 13-year-old girl who aspires to be a professional singer. The episode was filmed in September in Brookings, South Dakota. Five-time Grammy Award winner Amy Grant hosts "Three Wishes," leading contributors Carter Oosterhouse, Eric Stromer and Diane Mizota to communities all over the country to grant wishes of all kinds to deserving people.

In Brookings, the "Three Wishes" team meets the Mayor, who wishes on behalf of the whole town to help a family displaced by Hurricane Katrina. His wish is granted when "Three Wishes" flies to the epicenter of the destruction and meets a family of four who has lost everything and evacuated to Houston. Eric Stromer secretly journeys to the family's flooded New Orleans home to retrieve any mementos he can before flying the Mom, Dad and two kids to Brookings, where "Three Wishes" has leased and furnished a home for them and they are welcomed by the community.

In Brookings, the team also helps make a terminally-ill father's wishes for his family come true by arranging for several extraordinary surprises to help his wife and five children better face the future. Meanwhile, they also grant the family's wish to throw a surprise reunion party for him. Friends and family who have meant the most to him through the years are flown in from all over the country for a gathering that becomes a joyous celebration of his life.

While in Brookings, the "Three Wishes" team also grants a special wish for a 13-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a professional singer, giving her special training and a recording session in Nashville plus another big surprise.

Andrew Glassman (NBC's "Average Joe 1-4") and Jason Raff ("Average Joe 1-4") are the executive producers of the series for Glassman Media and NBC Universal Television Studio.
