Your NBC TCA Questions Answered: Future of 'Surface,' 'Joey,' More
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- As if the multitude of premiere dates and time period changes revealed on Sunday weren't enough, NBC made several other announcements as part of its session at the TCA Winter Press Tour.

Here's a breakdown of the highlights:

-- NBC confirmed "Will & Grace," "Scrubs" and "My Name Is Earl" will all shoot 24 episodes this season.

-- Despite fears that "Surface's" February 6 installment is being billed as the "finale," the show remains under consideration for the 2006-07 season. That being said, the season finale "will provide a sort of semi-closure."

-- The Peacock is currently working with its sister network Telemundo to develop an English version of the telenovela "Body of Desire" for a potential summer 2006 launch.

-- The pilot for the upcoming Justin Bartha-led comedy "Teachers" was originally shot in a single-camera format, after which Jim Burrows was brought in to helm the new multi-camera version.

-- In addition to "The Black Donnellys" and "Studio 7," the drama pilot "Kidnapped" is being viewed as a "serious contender for another early fall pickup."

-- Newcomer "Heist" will likely air for 13 consecutive weeks with new episodes running straight through June.

-- NBC will revisit the status of "Joey" in March however no firm return date was mentioned. To date the show has "about 12 episodes" left to air. Likewise the comedy "Thick & Thin" remains in limbo however is "not dead."

-- The network said the updated "American Dreams" series finale is "really not a priority right now" as there's no plans to air the revised version.
