[via press release from ABC]

ABC IS SET TO LAUNCH THE FIRST OFFICIAL GREYS ANATOMY PODCAST SERIES ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, IN SUPPORT OF ITS POST-SUPERBOWL EPISODE

Future Podcasts Will Be Available on Both ABC.com and Apples iTunes; Blogs Also Available on ABC.com

The ABC Television Network will be launching the first official Greys Anatomy podcast series on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3. The podcasts will be available on ABC.com and iTunes Music Store.

Each week, various Greys Anatomy cast members join producers for one-on-one conversations that will tease the weeks upcoming episode, as well as give insight into the actors and their characters.

On Friday, February 3, the first podcast will feature Kate Walsh (Addison Shepherd) and executive producer Jim Parriott providing insights into Kates on-screen character, as well as discussing the upcoming post-Superbowl episode, Its the End of the World (airing on Sunday, February 5).

The Greys Anatomy podcasts will be available for download on the official Greys Anatomy website at ABC.com and on Apples iTunes. Users will be able to download the podcasts on both sites at no cost. Podcasts will remain available on each site for an unspecified time.

A podcast is the distribution of audio files for download. You can then hear the podcast whenever you want from your computer or from a portable media player.

On this Sundays episode, Its The End of the World (airing 10:00-11:00 p.m. approx., ET), Merediths fear that she is in for a bad day is realized when a medical case arrives at Seattle Grace Hospital that threatens the lives of everyone in the OR.

In addition to the podcast series, Greys Anatomy fans can also find blogs tied to the series on ABC.com. The Writers Blog (http://www.greyswriters.com/) offers fans behind-the-scenes insight into the most recent episode. Penned by the writer or writers of that episode, the blogs offer observations not available from any other source, including inspiration for story ideas and the deeper meaning of the episode.

Two fictional blogs offer viewers an expanded perspective of the show from the viewpoint of characters not central to the storyline -- Nurses Blog and Joes Blog.

Nurses Blog (www.seattlegracegossip.com), as the name implies, is the opportunity for Seattle Graces nursing staff to weigh in on hospital events. They might be commenting on recent cases or gossiping about the casual trysts or complicated relationships certain members of the staff are engaged in.

Joes Blog (www.emeraldcitybar.com) is the place where Joe, the bartender at the doctors hangout, can wax on about his secret fantasies, comment on what his patrons are up to, and gossip about what he sees and overhears from his unique vantage point.

In addition, the Greys site on ABC.com offers Greys Music Casts, streaming audio of various Greys staff members talking about the music that was used in the episode, with extended clips of the songs.

Greys Anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, Patrick Dempsey as Derek Shepherd, Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang, Isaiah Washington as Preston Burke, Katherine Heigl as Isobel Izzie Stevens, Justin Chambers as Alex Karev, T.R. Knight as George OMalley, Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, James Pickens, Jr. as Richard Webber and Kate Walsh as Addison Shepherd.

Greys Anatomy is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABCs selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound and Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning.
