NBC Trims Monday Lineup; Cbs, MyNetworkTV Changes
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- NBC is revising its Monday lineup as "American Gladiators" will cut back to hourlong installments starting Monday, June 9 at 8:00/7:00c.

Network newcomer "Nashville Star" will also shrink to 60-minute episodes on Monday, June 23 on 9:00/8:00c following its two-hour premiere on June 9 and a 90-minute broadcast on June 16. Filling out the night then will be "Dateline NBC" in the 10:00/9:00c hour. To recap:

Monday, June 9
8:00/7:00c - "American Gladiators"
9:00/8:00c - "Nashville Star" (Two-Hour Season Premiere)

Monday, June 16
8:00/7:00c - "American Gladiators"
9:00/8:00c - "Nashville Star" (90-Minute Episode)
10:30/9:30c - "Dateline NBC" (30-Minute Episode)

Mondays (as of June 23)
8:00/7:00c - "American Gladiators"
9:00/8:00c - "Nashville Star"
10:00/9:00c - "Dateline NBC"

In addition, the network has slated a trio of upcoming specials - "Macy's 4th Of July Fireworks Spectacular" (Friday, July 4), "Miss Universe" (Sunday, July 13) and "Saturday Night's Main Event" (Saturday, August 2).

Meanwhile, CBS and MyNetworkTV have also altered some of their previously announced plans.

The Eye has shelved repeats of its departing dramas "Shark" and "Moonlight." Additional repeats of "Ghost Whisperer" and "NUMB3RS" will fill in for the latter on Fridays at 9:00/8:00c until newcomer "Flashpoint" joins the lineup on July 11 at 10:00/9:00c. As for "Shark," the show's planned double runs have been replaced by a second night of "48 Hours Mystery" on Tuesdays at 9:00/8:00c and "The Unit" repeats on Sundays at 10:00/9:00c.

Additionally, to make room for the Tony Awards on June 15, "Million Dollar Password" (regularly Sundays at 8:00/7:00c starting June 1) will make a one-time shift to Thursday at 8:00/7:00c on June 12. And finally, CBS has quietly slated an encore of TBS's "The Bill Engvall Show" for Monday, June 9 at 8:00/7:00c. No reason for the stunt was given.

Lastly over on MyNetworkTV, the netlet will begin rebroadcasts of "Meet My Folks" and "Paradise Hotel 2" on Friday nights starting June 6. The pair had been set for Saturdays, which will now feature the network's movie package.
