FX's "The Americans" to Premiere at MIPCOM

LEADING CAST MEMBERS KERI RUSSELL AND MATTHEW RHYS TO ATTEND MIPCOM 2012 WORLD PREMIERE TV SCREENINGS

PARIS, Sept. 11, 2012 -- MIPCOM today announces that FX's new TV series The Americans will debut at MIPCOM 2012's World Premiere TV Screenings on Monday 8 October in Cannes, France. International buyers and media will have their first chance to screen episode one of this eagerly-awaited period drama in the Palais des Festivals' Grand Auditorium at 6.30pm. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the stars and production team of the show, who will later grace the red carpet at MIPCOM's Opening Night Party. The Americans is being sold internationally at MIPCOM by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.

Organised by Reed MIDEM, MIPCOM will take place in Cannes, 8-11 October 2012.

Golden Globe(R) Award-winning actress Keri Russell (Felicity, Waitress, Mission Impossible III) and Welsh actor Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters, The Edge of Love) will fly to the French Riviera to attend the MIPCOM World Premiere TV Screening of The Americans, FX's new series co-produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Productions, also starring Noah Emmerich (Miracle, Warrior). David Madden, President, Fox Television Studios, and Eric Schrier, Head of Series Development for FX and Executive Vice President, FX Productions, will be attending MIPCOM alongside the show's leading actors.

From creator/executive producer Joe Weisberg (writer on TNT's hit series Falling Skies), executive producer and legendary writer Graham Yost (Justified, Boomtown, Speed, Band of Brothers), and Dreamworks Television's executive producers Justin Falvey (Into the West, United States of Tara) and Darryl Frank (The Borgias, Las Vegas), The Americans is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington DC shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President.

"We are delighted and honoured that FX Networks has chosen MIPCOM to screen The Americans for the very first time, in the presence of its remarkable actors and producers," said Laurine Garaude, Director of Reed MIDEM's Television Division. "The recurring success of the World Premiere TV Screenings at MIPCOM and MIPTV confirms the event's position as a premium showcase for leading television and film companies to screen outstanding programmes to the most influential buyers, industry players, and international media from over 100 countries."

"It is a great honor for us to be able to host the world premiere screening of The Americans at MIPCOM," said Eric Schrier. "We are very proud of the series and are thrilled with the work of Creator/Executive Producer Joe Weisberg and our outstanding cast led by Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys. The Americans has such wide international appeal and it is only fitting that the first screening is held at MIPCOM."

Following the success of the pilot episode, to be screened at MIPCOM, the series begins production in October and is scheduled to air in early 2013.
