BABYLON (NBC, New!) - Daniel Knauf ("Dracula") is developing a supernatural telenovela at the Peacock which "chronicles the ruthless supernatural machinations of the six governesses of an exclusive Hancock Park women's club, the true powers behind every throne in The City of Angels." Ben Silverman and Jimmy Fox of Electus are also executive producing the drama, part of the company's three-for-one series deal with the network - one of which is in line for a 13-episode order. THE BRINK (HBO; W: Kim Benabib & Roberto Benabib; D: Jay Roach) - Pablo Schreiber, Maribeth Monroe and Geoff Pierson have all been cast in the comedy pilot, about "three compromised souls who must pull through the chaos around them to save the planet from World War Three: U.S. Secretary of State Walter Hollander (Tim Robbins); Alex Coppins (Jack Black), a lowly Foreign Service officer; and Zeke Callahan (Schreiber), an ace Navy fighter pilot." Schreiber will the play the latter member of said trio with Monroe as Kendra Willis, "Deputy Chief of Staff and lifeline to the hard living Secretary of State (Robbins)"; and Pierson as Pierce Mullin, "the hawkish Secretary of Defense." Aasif Mandvi also stars. (Deadline.com)


THE DOUBLE LIFE OF EMILY REED (ABC, New!) - David Diamond and David Weissman (The Family Man) have sold a potential drama to the Alphabet about "a 35-year-old divorcee from New Jersey with two kids who's at a tipping point in her life when she makes the life-changing decision to move herself and her kids in with her mom. Just when she gives up on all her dreams, Emily magically wakes up the next morning in a gorgeous Soho loft lying next to an even more gorgeous naked man. And thus begins the double life of Emily Reed, where she lives each day twice - once as a divorced mother of two in suburban New Jersey, and again as a successful independent New York business woman." ABC Studios is behind the hour with Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and Larry Gilbert of Temple Hill Entertainment also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)


THE LOTTERY (Lifetime/Warner Horizon; W: Timothy J. Sexton; D: Danny Cannon) - Martin Donovan and Salli Richardson-Whitfield have both landed roles on the pilot, a drama set in a world destined for extinction and the ensuing national lottery that is held to decide the surrogates for 100 embryos that have been successfully fertilized. He'll play Darius Hayes, "the calculating director of the country's Fertility Commission who is willing to use any strategy to achieve what he believes is the greater good"; while Richardson-Whitfield will recur as Gabrielle, "the first lady of the United States who is desperate to have a child of her own." David Alpay, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Louise Lombard, Marley Shelton and Michael Graziadei also star. (THR.com)


MR. ROMANCE (HBO, New!) - Murray Miller ("Girls") is set to team with Casper Christensen for a new comedy at the pay channel "based on the article The Only Muscle I Can't Control: In Search of the Next Romance Novel Cover Man, written by Joshuah Bearman and first published in McSweeney's in 2010." Mike White and David Bernad will also serve executive producers via their Rip Cord Productions banner along with Josh Bearman. Said project is the result of a two-year overall deal Miller recently signed with HBO which will also see him upped to executive producer on "Girls." (Deadline.com)


NEMESIS (NBC, New!) - William Bernhardt's book, subtitled "The Final Case of Eliot Ness," is being developed as an eight-hour mini-series at the Peacock. Benjamin Brand (IFC's "Bollywood Hero") is spearheading the Sony Pictures Television-based project, which "tells the true story of Ness in 1935, post-Untouchables, as Cleveland's newly appointed Director of Public Safety" where he takes on America's first serial killer, the so-called "Torso Killer." Storyline Entertainment's Craig Zadan and Neil Meron as well as Aperture Entertainment's Adam Goldworm will also serve as executive producers. The former's Mark Nicholson will also receive a producer credit. (Deadline.com)


WISDOM (ABC, New!) - Jonathan Abrahams ("Perception") has booked a new drama at the Alphabet billed as "a sprawling, sexy soap fraught with secrets, lies and a huge mystery involving the 1st family of Silicon Valley, The Wisdoms, and the closet genius from across the tracks who turns their world upside down when she arrives in town looking for answers about her past." Marcus Wiley and Julia Franz are also on board to executive produce for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)


THE WOLFMAN (NBC, New!) - Daniel Knauf ("Dracula") is spearheading a small screen take on the 2010 feature of the same name starring Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. The project is billed as "a supernatural thriller that explores what it means to be a man and to be human. It centers on Lawrence Talbot, who is afflicted by an ancient curse and jacks into the powerful, primordial soul of the alpha-predator." Universal Television is behind the hour with Scott Stuber and Quan Phung of Bluegrass Films likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)

Poitier has booked a five-episode arc on "Chicago PD" as a new detective, a role which will cross over on "Chicago Fire" as well as has the option to become a regular (Deadline.com); Tim Daly will recur on "Hot in Cleveland" as "the new owner of the detective agency where Joy (Jane Leeves) works" (Deadline.com); Dan Hedaya has been cast as Danny's (Chris Messina) dad on "The Mindy Project" (Vulture.com);

Victor Garber has likewise been tapped to play Ichabod's (Tom Mison) father on "Sleepy Hollow" (TVLine.com); Alex Kingston will reprise her role of Dinah Lance on "Arrow" later this season (TVLine.com); James Remar likewise will return to "Grey's Anatomy" as Alex's (Justin Chambers) pop (TVLine.com); and Malcolm-Jamal Warner is bound for two episodes of "Major Crimes" as "a SIS supervisor brought in to help protect Raydor's ward Rusty from his stalker, at all costs" (TVLine.com).
