THE BRINK (HBO; W: Kim Benabib & Roberto Benabib; D: Jay Roach) - Mimi Kennedy and Ryan Curtona are the latest to score roles on the comedy pilot, about three compromised souls who must pull through the chaos around them to save the planet from World War Three: U.S. Secretary of State Walter Hollander (Tim Robbins); Alex Coppins (Jack Black), a lowly Foreign Service officer; and Zeke Callahan (Pablo Schreiber), an ace Navy fighter pilot. She'll recur as the CIA director with Curtona as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs. Also starring are Aasif Mandvi, Esai Morales, Geoff Pierson and Maribeth Monroe. (THR.com)


MAE WEST (HBO, New!) - Bette Midler is attached to star and executive produce a docudrama at the pay channel about the life of actress Mae West who took "New York by storm after writing and starring in her scandalous Broadway show Sex and battles authorities over obscenity charges." William Friedkin (The Exorcist) is on board to direct the project from a script by Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots) based on West's autobiography "Goodness Had Nothing to Do with It." Friedkin will likewise executive produce alongside Jerry Weintraub ("Behind the Candelabra"). (Deadline.com)


TIN MAN (NBC/Universal; W: Ehren Kruger; D: D.J. Caruso) - Patrick Heusinger ("Revolution") has booked the male lead on the futuristic drama pilot, about "fugitive robot Adam (Heusinger) accused of first-degree murder, who may hold the key to the future of human evolution, and the young female public defender forced to fight for his cause. Adam, a robotic valet, became a murder suspect after his builder and master was found stabbed to death." Daniel Bobker and John Glenn also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)


AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Grey's Anatomy" will produce 24 episodes this season with the back half due on February 27 as previously announced (@hellojerrika); "The Sound of Music Live!" producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan are "circling a couple of titles" for another live production next year for the holidays on NBC (NYTimes.com); director Kimberly Peirce has inked a first-look deal with ABC Studios (Deadline.com); Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution has cleared newcomer "The Real" in over 70% of the country for next fall following a successful four-week summer test (Deadline.com);

Daniel Henney has booked a three-episode arc on "Revolution" as "a handsome, charming and incredibly intelligent character" (THR.com); Frances Fisher will guest on "Castle" as "an Anna Wintour type character" in an episode that will revisit Kate Beckett's (Stana Katic) past as a model (TVGuide.com); and Mimi Kennedy is bound for ABC's "Mind Games" as "a financial backer who accompanies her granddaughter to Edwards and Associates to hire the team" (THR.com).
