By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

FACTORY MAN (HBO, New!) - Beth Macy's book, subtitled "How One Furniture Maker Battled Offshoring, Stayed Local - and Helped Save an American Town," is being developed as a mini-series at the pay channel. Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman's Playtone is behind the project - which will presumably recount the story of The Bassett Furniture Company, who went from sending its production overseas to bringing it back home to Bassett, Virginia - with Steven Shareshian serving as co-executive producer and Peter McGuigan as co-producer. (Deadline.com)

KICKS, THE (Amazon, New!) - Olympic gold medalist Alex Morgan's best-selling series of books is set to be the focus of a potential single-camera comedy which tells "an empowering story of twelve-year-old soccer player Devin who is on the verge of being named seventh-grade captain on her Connecticut school soccer team when her family moves to California and she has to start from scratch in one of the most competitive soccer states." David Babcock ("Twisted") is penning the project, which has a pilot order, and executive producing alongside James Frey's Full Fathom Five. (Deadline.com)

LETTERS TO MY DAUGHTER'S FUTURE THERAPIST (CBS, New!) - Newcomer Jordan Roter has sold a multi-camera/hybrid project to the network billed as "a multi-generational family comedy in which the voice-over is the mother's letters to her daughter's future therapist, explaining her actions for when her daughter inevitably blames her for everything." Said effort is set up at CBS Television Studios with Jon Turteltaub also executive producing via his studio-based Junction Entertainment. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED ANTHOLOGY DRAMA PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Chad Villella, Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Justin Martinez are spearheading a potential anthology series with horror/sci-fi/thriller tales inspired by true events. Said quartet will executive produce the project, which will go directly to series if the Peacock signs off on the script, via their Radio Silence Productions banner alongside Blumhouse Productions' Jason Blum, Flame Ventures' Tony Krantz and Endemol Studios. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED JIMMY KIMMEL PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Late-night staples Jimmy Kimmel and Carson Daly are set to team for a new comedy at the Alphabet about "a once massively popular VJ who loses it all and is forced to move back in with his parents and take a job as host of a local radio morning zoo." Kimmel is penning the half-hour, which is inspired by Daly's own experiences and has a penalty attached, with the pair executive producing alongside Dan Fogelman for ABC Studios. (THR.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Peter Segal is set to direct MTV's comedy pilot "Ken Jeong Made Me Do It" (Deadline.com); Chiké Okonkwo will recur on "Banshee" as "a mysterious business associate of crime kingpin Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen)" (Deadline.com); Pete Davidson has been tapped as a new featured player on "Saturday Night Live" while outgoing Michael Patrick O'Brien will return to the writers ranks of the show (Deadline.com); Amanda Pays will guest on "The Flash" as Dr. Tina McGee, a role she originated on the 1990-91 incarnation of the character for CBS (THR.com);

Adam Scott and his producer wife, Naomi Scott, have inked a first-look deal with Universal Television for their Gettin' Rad Productions banner (THR.com); Brian Van Holt's Bobby Cobb will depart "Cougar Town" at the start of the TBS comedy's sixth and final season (TVLine.com); Susan Walters will guest on "The Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce" as "a class mom who disapproves of how Abby (Lisa Edelstein) is handling her divorce" (TVLine.com); and Luke Perry will recur on "CSI: Cyber" as Nick Dalton, "a former FBI agent who will hold many secrets to Avery's (Patricia Arquette) backstory" (TVLine.com).
