LOVE RULES AS MTV'S HIT MATCHMAKING SERIES "ARE YOU THE ONE?" RETURNS ON SPECIAL PREMIERE NIGHT THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 AT 11:00 P.M. ET/PT

Third Season to Feature Game-Changing Twist That Could Cost Them All

NEW YORK, NY (August 20, 2015) - MTV's hit matchmaking experiment, "Are You The One?," returns to tackle the question, "If your #perfectmatch was standing right in front of you, would you even know it?" Mirroring the franchise's successful formula, the show will follow a group of 10 single women and 10 single men, who are self-admittedly horrible at relationships, as they jet off to Hawaii in the hopes they'll leave their bad relationship habits behind and find their #perfectmatch. Hurry and meet the cast now on MTV's Snapchat (@mtv)! "Are You The One?" will premiere on MTV on Thursday, September 24 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT before moving to its regular time slot on Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT beginning Wednesday, September 30.

Prior to arrival, the singles will undergo a rigorous matchmaking process involving in-depth interviews and compatibility testing, using a team of professional matchmakers and psychologists, as well as the contestants' family, friends and exes. An ideal match for each person will be selected - the catch is that the results are not revealed to any of them. The singles will begin their quest to find their #perfectmatch in the house. If the entire group succeeds in finding their matches during the season, they'll walk away not only with love, but their share of one million dollars. All 10 couples must match, or they'll all go home without the cash!

Adding to the drama this season is a twist that will leave the love birds speechless. If at any point during the weekly matchup ceremonies the singles fail to make at least one true match (known in the game as a "blackout"), the group will be penalized with the loss of $250,000 - so in this game, four blackouts means, no jackpot. The couples will be forced to rule with their hearts and not with their heads if they hope to succeed in love and money.
