By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

LONG ROAD HOME, THE (NGC, New!) - Martha Raddatz's New York Times best-seller is being developed as a mini-series at the cable channel. Mikko Alanne (The 33) is spearheading the project, which centers on April 4, 2004, "a day that's become known in military circles as "Black Sunday." On that day, a platoon from the First Cavalry Division in Fort Hood, Texas, was ambushed in Sadr City in Baghdad." Mike Medavoy, Jason Clark, Benjamin Anderson and Edward McGurn are also on board to executive produce alongside Alanne. (THR.com)

NO TOMORROW (The CW, New!) - Corinne Brinkerhoff ("Jane the Virgin") is looking to import the Brazilian series "How to Enjoy the End of the World," about Sarah, "a risk-averse quality-control assessor who falls for free-spirited thrill seeker Xavier only to find out he lives his life that way because he believes the apocalypse is coming." Brinkerhoff, Scott McCabe and Tory Stanton will co-write the CBS Television Studios-based hour with Electus' Ben Silverman and Grupo Globo's Sean Canino likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED DAN FOGELMAN PROJECT (NBC/20th; W: Dan Fogelman; D: Glenn Ficarra & John Requa) - Chrissy Metz ("American Horror Story: Freak Show") is the latest addition to the pilot, a dramedy featuring a unique ensemble of characters all born on the same day. She'll play Kate, "who, like many women, struggles with her eating habits and body image. She uses Post-It notes throughout her apartment as discipline aids to remind herself of her dietary actions. Kate is Kevin's twin sister but, from the surface level, the complete opposite of him." Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Justin Hartley, Sterling K. Brown and Ron Cephas Jones also star. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Amazon's upcoming series from Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond has been billed as "#Drive2Prime" (Deadline.com); Danny Pino has signed onto "BrainDead" at CBS as Luke, "Laurel's older brother, the Democratic Whip Senator from Maryland" (Deadline.com); Sherri Shepherd will recur on "Rosewood" as "the new ME who is confident, flirty, playful, smart, wise-cracking and good at her job" (Deadline.com); Whitney Cummings will reunite with her "Whitney" alum Chris D'Elia on "Undateable" (@UndateableWRoom);

Michael Bowen has been cast in "Gotham" as Matches Malone, "a weathered, philosophical hitman who may be the triggerman behind one of the most important crimes in Gotham's history," while Lori Petty will drop by as Jeri, "the flamboyant and enigmatic hostess of an underground club where mass murder and art are celebrated in equal measure" (ComicBook.com, Variety.com); Nigel Lythgoe will return to "American Idol" to executive produce the show's final episode (Variety.com); and "Bones" executive producer Barry Josephson has filed a lawsuit against FOX over "potentially millions in promised profit participation" (Deadline.com).
