EXORCIST, THE (FOX, New!) - The network has given a pilot order to a new drama from Jeremy Slater inspired by William Blatty's original 1971 book, a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family's case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil. James Robinson, David Robinson and Barbara Wall also serve as executive producers for 20th Century Fox Television and Morgan Creek Productions.

GOOD FORTUNE (A.K.A. UNTITLED GERARD & ZINMAN PROJECT) (NBC/20th; W: Craig Gerard & Matt Zinman; D: TBA) - Said duo's comedy - about "a hyper-structured young woman whose life is upended when she starts taking advice from a mysterious fortune teller" - has scored a pilot order at the Peacock. HUNTED (Freeform, New!) - Hugh Sterbakov (Hell and Back) is developing a potential drama at the cable channel which "follows a young mother on the run following the murder of her husband." (Deadline.com)

MIDNIGHT, TEXAS (NBC/Universal; W: Monica Owusu-Breen; D: TBA) - The Peacock has given a pilot order to its small screen take on the Charlaine Harris novel, set where the real world and the supernatural collide in a dangerous, sexy, place full of dark secrets and mysterious people. David Janollari Entertainment's David Janollari executive produces alongside Harris and Owusu-Breen. (Deadline.com)

MIRANDA'S RIGHTS (NBC/Universal; W: Katie Lovejoy; D: TBA) - Katie Lovejoy's drama - about "an idealistic group of lawyers who not only work together but live together at their start-up firm" - has scored a pilot commitment from the Peacock. John Glenn Entertainment's John Glenn is executive producing while Lovejoy serves as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)

SHUT EYE (Hulu/TriStar; W: Les Bohem; D: TBA) - Susan Misner and Emmanuelle Chriqui have both been cast in the Jeffrey Donovan-led drama, about Charlie Haverford, a failed magician who now works as a psychic/conman overseeing a number of fortune telling parlors in Los Angeles. Employed for many years by a Romani kingpin, Charlie's life is stifled and going nowhere until a blow to the head jars him into a new mindset and makes him question everything he has ever believed. When his wife urges him to break out on his own, he's careful - because he knows that one wrong move will land him in a shallow grave. Misner will play Dr. Nora White, a neuroscientist; with Chriqui as Gina, a hypnotist. (Deadline.com)

SUPERIOR DONUTS (CBS, New!) - A multi-camera comedy based on the play by Tracy Letts - which "follows the relationship between the owner of a donut shop, his new young employee and their patrons in a gentrifying neighborhood of Chicago" - has been ordered to pilot by the Eye. Bob Daily, Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan are all behind the CBS Television Studios-based half-hour with Mark Teitelbaum and John Montgomery likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)

TRAIL, THE (NBC/WBT; W: Jeff Astrof & Matt Miller; D: TBA) - The single-camera comedy - a spoof of crime documentaries about the arrest and trial of a beloved poetry professor from a small town in South Carolina, who is accused of brutally murdering his wife, and the young Northeastern lawyer hired to defend him - is the latest heading to pilot at the Peacock. (Deadline.com)
