BEST INTENTIONS (Pop) - Adam Herz's comedy pilot - about the insecurities of a single father, his teenage son and the all-too-smart women of their fumbling affections - has been ordered to pilot by the cable channel. Additionally, Steve Pink has been tapped to direct for A+E Studios and Propagate. (Deadline.com)
DICKINSON (Apple) - Matt Lauria is set to recur on the Hailee Steinfeld-led comedy as Ben Newton, "a handsome clerk who works for Emily's father. Ben has an otherworldly quality when compared to the people of Amherst. He has a sensitivity that is uncommon for men of this time, which allows him and Emily to build a deeper connection." (Deadline.com)
FBI: MOST WANTED (CBS, New!) - The Eye has commissioned a backdoor pilot from the freshman drama, which was recently renewed for a second season. Writer Rene Balcer and director Fred Berner are spearheading the project, which will air as an episode of the series in the spring and already has a series commitment. Said effort "is centered around the division of the FBI tasked with tracking and capturing the notorious criminals on the FBI's Most Wanted list." CBS Television Studios and Universal Television are both behind the hour with Balcer and Wolf Films' Dick Wolf, Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski executive producing. (Deadline.com)
HANNAH (A.K.A. UNTITLED HANNAH SIMONE PROJECT) (ABC) - The Hannah Simone-led single-camera comedy - which follows the broke, single and nearly thirtysomething Hannah (Simone) as she and her father form a new bond when he announces that he and her mother are separating - has been given the green light to produce a pilot. Simone co-wrote the half-hour alongside Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)
HAPPY ACCIDENT (ABC) - Vanessa Williams has signed onto the single-camera comedy pilot, which centers around two Pittsburgh families - a father (Matt Walsh) with three adult daughters (one played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher), and a hotel lounge singer with her med student son - who are forced together after a decades-old secret is revealed. Williams will play the aforementioned hotel lounge singer. (Deadline.com)
INTERROGATION (CBSAA) - David Strathairn has been cast in the high-concept true-crime drama as "a father whose settled, suburban life is blown to pieces when his 17-year-old son is charged, convicted and sent to prison for a brutal, unimaginable murder." (Deadline.com)
NCIS: NEW ORLEANS (CBS) - Executive producer Adam Targum has been fired from the series, citing his "allegedly aggressive demeanor, demeaning remarks, and combative leadership style." The news comes on the heels of former showrunner Brad Kern being terminated after an investigation into harassment claims. (Vulture.com)
PATTY'S AUTO (FOX) - Darlene Hunt's multi-camera comedy is the latest to score a pilot order by the network. The project comes from the Warner Bros. Television-based Brownstone Productions. Its logline is as follows: "Inspired by Patrice Banks' Girls Auto Clinic (an auto repair shop with all female mechanics), PATTY'S AUTO is a multi-camera ensemble comedy centering on Patty and the eclectic women who work for her."
RAISING DION (Netflix) - Ali Ahn has booked a recurring role on the upcoming drama as Suzanne Wu, "a scientist who lacks the ability to fake enthusiasm or interest. She's either fascinated or disengaged. She knows more about the company and its people than anyone." (Deadline.com)
RIDE OR DIE (A.K.A. SPINNING) (Pop) - Matt McConkey's comedy - that takes place in the Hamptons as the town is struck by a series of mysterious murders - has been given the go-ahead to produce a pilot. The Gotham Group and Nomadic Pictures are co-producing the half-hour. (Deadline.com)
STUMPTOWN (ABC, New!) - A drama based on Greg Rucka, Matthew Southworth and Justin Greenwood's Oni Press comic series is heading to pilot at the Alphabet. Jason Richman penned the script to the project, which follows Dex Parios, "a strong, assertive, and unapologetically sharp-witted Army veteran working as a P.I. in Portland, OR. With a complicated personal history and only herself to rely on, she solves other people's messes with a blind eye toward her own." ABC Studios and Ruben Fleischer and David Bernad's The District will co-produce. (Deadline.com)
TRIANGLE (ABC, New!) - Jon Harmon Feldman and Sonny Postiglione have scored a pilot order from the Alphabet for a new drama which "posits the question, what if the Bermuda Triangle was not a watery grave in the middle of the ocean but a land lost in time that has trapped travelers over the course of human history? When a family is shipwrecked in this strange land, they must band together with a group of like-minded inhabitants - from throughout history - to survive and somehow find a way home." Jennifer Gwartz of the ABC Studios-based Random Hill will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
UTOPIA (Amazon) - Sasha Lane is the first to be cast in the upcoming drama series, in which a group of young adults, who meet online, are mercilessly hunted by a shadowy deep state organization after they come in to possession of a near mythical cult underground graphic novel - they discover the conspiracy theories in the comic's pages may actually be real and are forced in to the dangerous, unique and ironic position of saving the world. She'll play Jessica Hyde: "Tough and feral after a life on the run from a mysterious and dangerous group, Jessica believes all the answers about her perplexing life story may be hidden in the graphic novel "Utopia."" Fiona O'Shaughnessy played said role in the original U.K. series. (Deadline.com)
