BOB'S BURGERS/FAMILY GUY (FOX) - As expected, both animated comedies are formally set to return for the 2019-20 season. Production is already underway to meet their respective fall premieres. The news comes as "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane's overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television is set to expire in June. Meanwhile, "Bob's Burgers" showrunner Loren Bouchard has quietly extended his overall deal. (THR.com)
CAROL'S SECOND ACT/THE US PROJECT (CBS) - Sitcom veteran Pamela Fryman is set to direct and executive produce both multi-camera comedy pilots. (Deadline.com)
COUNCIL OF DADS (NBC) - Sarah Wayne Callies, Michele Weaver, Blue Chapman and J. August Richards are the first to be cast in the drama pilot, about Scott Perry (yet to be cast), a man who assembles a unique group of carefully chosen male friends to help his family adjust to a new normal after receiving a potentially terminal diagnosis. Callies will play Scott's wife Robin, "an OB/GYN, the mother/stepmother to four children ranging in age from 7 to 21 - and she's pregnant." Weaver and Chapman then will play their kids Luly and J.J. with Richards as Dr. Oliver Post, "an esteemed oncologist and surgeon who is Scott's doctor and part of the Council." (Deadline.com)
DODO HEROES (Animal Planet) - The cable channel has ordered a second season of the series, due later this year. (THR.com)
LIMETOWN (Facebook Watch) - Sherri Saum will recur on the Jessica Biel-led series as Gina, "the head of programming at APR Studios and Lia's (Biel) boss. The character is described as sophisticated, intimidating, a journalists' journalist. A workhorse who knows the value of a great story." (Deadline.com)
MAKE YOUR HOME AMONG STRANGERS (Freeform, New!) - Writer Danny Tolli and director Catalina Aguilar Mastretta are spearheading a new drama at the cable channel based on the book by Jennine Capó Crucet, which "follows both a Cuban American girl who struggles her freshman year at an elite New England college and the chaotic family she leaves behind in Miami, all set against the backdrop of the explosive Elian Gonzalez trial in the 1990's." Jonathan Baruch of StoryBy Entertainment is also executive producing for Entertainment One with Crucet serving as a consulting producer. (Variety.com)
UNTITLED JESSICA GAO PROJECT (ABC) - Jessica Gao's single-camera comedy - about a first generation Chinese-American woman who struggles to set healthy boundaries with her crazy, exhausting family - has scored a last-minute pilot order. ABC Studios will co-produce the half-hour alongside the previously announced CBS Television Studios and Imagine Television. (Deadline.com)
WU-TANG: AN AMERICAN SAGA (Hulu) - Ashton Sanders, Shameik Moore, Siddiq Saunderson, Marcus Callender, Zolee Griggs and Erika Alexander have all been cast in the streaming service's look at one of the most influential and important groups in hip-hop history. Sanders will play Bobby "The RZA" Diggs with Moore as Sha Rader; Saunderson as Dennis "D-Love" Coles; Callender as Oliver "Power" Grant; Griggs as Shurrie; and Alexander as Linda. Additionally, Chris Robinson has been tapped to direct and co-executive produce the debut episode. (Deadline.com)
