BRAVE NEW WORLD (USA) - Alden Ehrenreich has been tapped for the lead role on the upcoming Aldous Huxley series adaptation, which imagines a utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself. He'll play John, "a subversive outsider, in the New World, threatens to disrupt the stability of New London's utopian society." (Deadline.com)
INSATIABLE (Netflix) - Alex Landi will recur on the show's sophomore run in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com)
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE IN CONCERT (NBC) - John Legend, Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius' Get Lifted Film Co. has signed a three-year overall deal with ABC Studios. The pact ends their run at Sony Pictures Television, where they had previously operated under a first-look deal. (Deadline.com)
LAST MRS. PARRISH, THE (Amazon, New!) - Jessica Mecklenburg is spearheading a small screen take on Liv Constantine's bestselling debut novel, which "sees a plain young woman striving to insert herself into high society life by usurping the Queen Bee's fairytale life only to realize she may have gotten herself in way over her head." Cathy Schulman's Welle Entertainment and Jeff Gaspin's Gaspin Media are co-producing. (Deadline.com)
MACGYVER (CBS) - Peter Weller will guest on the show's season finale on May 10 as "a familiarly clever villain named Mason." (TVLine.com)

SLEEPING BEAUTIES (AMC, New!) - Owen King has set up a potential drama at the cable channel based on his novel with father Stephen King, which "takes place in the near future in a small Appalachian town whose primary employer is a women's prison. Something happens when women go to sleep; they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent. And while they sleep they go to another place." Michael Sugar and Ashley Zalta are also on board to executive produce for Sugar23 and Anonymous Content. (Deadline.com)
SWAMP THING (DC Universe) - Production on the series reportedly will now wrap after 10 episodes as Warner Bros. "evaluates the future of its DC Universe streaming service." The series was previously scheduled to film 13 episodes through May. Said report further indicates the show's finale is being rewritten to accommodate the change. (@StarNewsOnline)
UNDERGROUND RAILROAD, THE (Amazon) - Thuso Mbedu, Aaron Pierre and Chase W. Dillon are the first to be cast in Barry Jenkins's small screen take on Colson Whitehead's National Book Award winning novel. They'll play Cora, Caesar and Homer, respectively. (Deadline.com)
UTOPIA (Amazon) - John Cusack is set to star in Gillian Flynn's import of her British drama as Dr. Kevin Christie: "Charismatic and media-savvy, with a brilliant biotech mind and a philanthropic outlook. Christie altruistically wants to change the world through science." (Deadline.com)
VEEP (HBO) - Executive producer David Mandel has signed a three-year overall deal with the pay channel where he'll develop new series projects. (Deadline.com)
