ALIEN (FX on Hulu) - FX Chairman John Landgraf told reporters at the TCA Summer Press Tour the franchise's TV incarnation is being targeted for a 2023 launch. ATLANTA (FX) - The long-in-the-works third season of the comedy series is now being targeted for early 2022. "It's in post-production and it's a lengthy post-production process, and part of that is because they're currently in production of Season 4 in Atlanta," FX Chairman John Landgraf said at the TCA Summer Press Tour. (Deadline.com)
CAT'S CRADLE (FX) - Noah Hawley's adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's novel is not moving forward at the network. "We made a decision not to move forward with it at FX, although we still have an overall deal with Noah Hawley," said FX Chairman John Landgraf at the TCA Summer Press Tour. "As a studio, FX Productions is still very supportive of Noah. If there's another entity that wants to commission that, it will move forward, but not under the FX brand." (Deadline.com)
CLASS OF '09 (FX on Hulu) - Sunu Gonera is slated to helm the pilot episode of the limited series, a suspense thriller following a class of FBI agents set in a near future where the U.S. criminal justice system has been transformed by artificial intelligence. (Deadline.com)
FARGO (FX) - FX Chairman John Landgraf indicated at the TCA Summer Press Tour he's hopeful about a fifth season of the Noah Hawley-penned series. "He's very focused on Alien right now," Landgraf said. "We do continue to talk about, and he expressed positive sentiment toward making another season, so that gives me optimism." (Deadline.com)
FLEISHMAN IS IN TROUBLE (FX on Hulu) - Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris have signed on to direct multiple episodes of the limited series, based on Taffy Brodesser-Akner's debut novel. (Deadline.com)
FLORIDA MAN (Netflix) - The Edgar Ramírez-led drama has cast Anthony LaPaglia as Sonny Valentine, "Mike's father, beloved ex-police chief of this little beach town and criminal to the core"; Abbey Lee as Delly West, "a survivor, a chameleon, possibly a femme fatale, and exactly what Mike Valentine does not need right now"; Otmara Marrero as Patsy, "Mike's sister, living in Orlando, is relentlessly upbeat, churchgoing, and bravely soldiering on in the life she made too early with husband Deacon and daughter Tyler"; Lex Scott Davis as Iris, "Mike's ex-wife, and a brand-new detective with the Philadelphia Police"; Emory Cohen as Moss Yankov, "Mike Valentine's boss, and the lesser son of a powerful, now-dead mobster"; and Clark Gregg as Deputy Sheriff Ketcher, "vacationing with his family at Disney World, Ketcher loses his personal weapon on Day One and really wants it back." Additionally, Miguel Arteta has been tapped to direct the first two episodes and executive produce with Julian Farino, Haifaa Al Mansour and Kevin Bray helming the subsequent two-episode blocks. (Deadline.com)
HOW I MET YOUR FATHER (Hulu) - Brandon Micheal Hall has scored a recurring role on the spin-off series as Ian: "Handsome, smart, funny, Ian is Sophie's (Hilary Duff) Tinder match who finally meets her in person for the first time." (Deadline.com)
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (AMC) - Sam Reid has been cast as Lestat in the network's much-ballyhooed adaptation of Anne Rice's novel. Tom Cruise played said role in the 1994 feature film. (Deadline.com)
LOVE LIFE (HBO Max) - Keith David has been tapped to serve as narrator of the show's second season, led by William Jackson Harper. Lesley Manville filled said role in its inaugural Anna Kendrick-led run. (Deadline.com)
OLD MAN, THE (FX on Hulu) - Filming on the Jeff Bridges-led drama is expected to resume at the start of 2022 "contingent on Bridges feeling well and getting green light from his doctors to return to work as well as the ever-evolving Covid situation." Production has been hiatus since October "when the actor revealed that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma." (Deadline.com)
TITANS (HBO Max) - Co-star Vincent Kartheiser has "triggered at least two complaints and two internal investigations" by Warner Bros. Television. Said report indicates the allegations, "believed to have included disruptive, juvenile behavior and inappropriate comments," were investigated by the studio's Labor Relations department. A spokesperson for the actor issued a statement: "Vincent Kartheiser vehemently denies the allegations. Warner Bros. investigated this matter and made clear to Mr. Kartheiser its expectations for behavior on the set, and he agreed to comply with their directives." (Deadline.com)
WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS (FX) - Scott Rudin will be dropped as an executive producer of the series "following allegations of systematic abuse against the uber producer." (Deadline.com)
