By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

BLACK MIRROR (Netflix) - The anthology series is set to begin production on a seventh season later this year with Charlie Brooker, Annabel Jones and Jessica Rhoades believed to be returning as executive producers. (Variety.com, 11/21)
CAPE FEAR (New!) - Nick Antosca is spearheading "drama series re-imagining of the classic Universal thrillers" with Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese among the executive producers: "In what is described as an unconventional take on the IP that draws from John D. MacDonald's novel and its feature adaptations, the Cape Fear series is a tense, contemporary thriller that examines America's obsession with true crime in the 21st century. In it, a storm is coming for a pair of married attorneys when an infamous killer from their past gets released after years in prison." Amblin Television and UCP are behind the project, which is still in the early stages of bidding. (Deadline.com, 11/21)
FBI: MOST WANTED (CBS) - Shantel VanSanten has joined the cast of the series, reprising her role of Special Agent Nina Chase from the parent series. (Deadline.com, 11/20)
GOOD DOCTOR, THE (ABC) - Hill Harper is exiting the series after formally announcing his candidacy for the U.S. Senate. (TVLine.com, 11/20)
HARLAN COBEN'S SHELTER/HORROR OF DOLORES ROACH, THE/WITH LOVE (Amazon) - The streamer has pulled the plug on all three series. "With Love" is ending after two seasons while the others launched earlier this year. (Deadline.com, 11/21)
LAW & ORDER (NBC) - Reid Scott has joined the cast of the show's upcoming 23rd season. He'll play an as-yet unamed NYPD detective, filling the void left by Jeffrey Donovan's departing Frank Cosgrove. (Deadline.com, 11/22)
MIRACLE WORKERS (TBS) - The cable channel has nixed its last remaining live-action comedy after four seasons. (TVLine.com, 11/21)
MUPPETS MAYHEM, THE (Disney+) - The streamer has axed the latest Muppets incarnation after one season. (Deadline.com, 11/21)
PENGUIN, THE (Max) - Production on the series, which shut down back in June, will resume the week after Thanksgiving. (Variety.com, 11/20)
TOP GEAR (BBC America) - The U.K. staple will not return "for the foreseeable future after presenter Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff was hurt in a crash while filming last year [for a proposed season 34]." The BBC said in a statement: "We know resting the show will be disappointing news for fans, but it is the right thing to do." Adding, "All other Top Gear activity remains unaffected by this hiatus including international formats, digital, magazines and licensing." (BBC.com, 11/21)
UNTITLED CHARLIE BONE PROJECT (Amazon, New!) - Filming is underway on a pilot by Amazon MGM Studios for a small screen take on Jenny Nimmo's "Children of the Red King" fantasy novels: "The novels follow Charlie Bone (McClane), a kid who has always been labeled a 'problem'. He's been expelled from every school in London. But he can't help it - his brain just doesn't work like other people's. He has been haunted by 'The Noise' ever since his dad mysteriously died. His last chance comes when he's sent to Bloor's Academy, a school for challenging teenagers. Here, the pioneering principal, Dr. Bloor (Fiennes), sees things differently - he is convinced that what others see as flaws are, in fact, undiagnosed gifts, a kind of superpower, even. Bone must negotiate friendships, crushes, hormones, family dramas and most perilously, a dangerous conspiracy at the heart of the establishment." Joseph Fiennes, Carmen Ejogo, Emma Sidi, Orlando Norman, Beth Alsbury, Lewis Brophy, Giulia Be, Olivia-Mai Barrett, Fisayo Akinade and newcomer Cory McClane star in the project. Toby MacDonald is directing from a script by Max Gill with both executive producing alongside Rory Aitken and Eleanor Moran for 42. Miriam Brent is a co-executive producer and Roopesh Parekh is producing. (Deadline.com, 11/21)
UNTITLED GILGO BEACH SERIAL KILLER PROJECT (Peacock, New!) - The streamer is working on a documentary series "that will follow the family of accused Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Rex Heuermann as they cope with his upcoming trial and their shattered lives." No auspices however were given. (Deadline.com, 11/18)
UNTITLED GUENTHER STEINER PROJECT (CBS, New!) - The Eye is developing a single-camera workplace comedy inspired by Haas Racing team principle Guenther Steiner. The project will be "set in the world of sports with a 'Steineresque' boss at the head of the ensemble." No writer or studio is currently attached. Steiner will executive produce. (Deadline.com, 11/21)
VERY ROYAL SCANDAL, A (Amazon, New!) - Michael Sheen and Ruth Wilson will topline a three-part series at the streamer about "Prince Andrew's disastrous interview with Newsnight journalist Emily Maitlis." Joanna Scanlan also stars as Amanda Thirsk; with Alex Jennings as Sir Edward Young; and Éanna Hardwicke as Stewart Maclean. Julian Jarrold is directing from a script by Jeremy Brock with Karen Thrussell, Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, Diarmuid McKeown, Jeremy Brock, Jarrold, and Maitlis herself serve as executive producers. Josh Hyams is producing for Blueprint Television, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. Filming is underway. (Variety.com, 11/20)
