ANIMAL CONTROL (FOX) - Ravi Patel is the latest addition to the comedy series as Amit Patel, "an Animal Control officer and overwhelmed family man with more family responsibilities than he bargained for. His partner Victoria has a lifestyle that is so different from his own, they could be from different planets." (Deadline.com)
BENDS, THE (FX, New!) - Writer Paul Attanasio and director Mike Barker have scored a pilot order from the cable channel for a new drama which "follows a seemingly perfect American family in Berlin whose secrets come to light when they hire a new nanny, unaware that she is trying to expose the parents' corrupt financial and familial ties." The project is based on the novel "Killing Ground" by Gerald Seymour, with Warren Littlefield, Ann Johnson, Graham Littlefield, Lisa Harrison and Kathy Ciric also executive producing for The Littlefield Company and 20th Television. BLACK RABBIT (Netflix, New!) - Jason Bateman and Jude Law are attached to star in a top secret limited series at the streamer from writers Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, to be directed by Bateman. The group will also executive produce alongside Michael Costigan and Ben Jackson for Aggregate Films, Riff Raff Entertainment, Youngblood Pictures and Automatik Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
BUCCANEERS, THE (Apple TV+) - Simone Kirby is the latest to board the Edith Wharton adaptation as Miss Laura Testvalley, "the American' girls English chaperone. She is responsible for inviting girls to the London debutante season, at first appearing to be kind and amiable before it transpires she shares a secret with Conchita's husband, Lord Richard, and is manipulating the invitation." CITY ON A HILL (Showtime) - The pay channel has canceled the drama series after three seasons. "City on a Hill concluded its successful run on Showtime with its Season 3 finale," the network said in a statement. "We have had nothing but the best experience working with Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge and the entire cast and crew, led by showrunner Tom Fontana and fellow executive producers including Jennifer Todd and Jorge Zamacona. We offer our sincerest thanks to everyone." (THR.com)
DELI BOYS (Hulu, New!) - Asif Ali, Saagar Shaikh and Alfie Fuller are set to star in a new comedy pilot for the streamer about "a pair of pampered Pakistani-American brothers whose convenience-store magnate father dies and are then forced to reckon with their Baba's secret life of crime." Ali will play Mir Dar, "a hardworking son whose eager to impress his father, Baba - a scrappy immigrant who arrived in the U.S. broke and built an empire from scratch." Shaikh then is Mir's brother Raj, "who's a pot-smoking and entitled playboy who lives the high life on his father millions"; with Fuller as Prairie, "Raj's shaman, an "Afro-futurist" hipster who lives with him and various other hangers-on in stoner heaven luxury." Writer Abdullah Saeed and director Nisha Ganatra are behind the project with Jenni Konner, Vali Chandrasekaran and Nora Silver also executive producing for Onyx Collective and 20th Television. IRRATIONAL, THE (NBC) - The network and producer Universal Television have extended the options on the pilot's cast through the end of December. Last month the duo "commissioned a mini-room to produce a couple of backup scripts to go with the well received pilot." (Deadline.com)
LINCOLN LAWYER, THE (Netflix) - Yaya DaCosta is the latest slated to recur on the new season as Andrea Freemann, "a cut-throat prosecutor and Mickey Haller's (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) undefeated courtroom rival, who is also a friend of his ex-wife Maggie (Neve Campbell)." (Deadline.com)
SAINT X (Hulu) - Betsy Brandt and Michael Park are the latest additions to the upcoming drama as Mia Thomas and Bill Thomas, respectively, "upper middle class parents of two, enjoying a family vacation in a Caribbean resort until one of their daughters goes missing." (Deadline.com)
SHE GETS IT FROM ME (CBS, New!) - Actors/writers Dan Bucatinsky and Cristela Alonzo are set to team for a single-camera comedy at the Eye which "centers on what happens when the teenaged, adopted daughter of two hyper-devoted, straight-laced, suburban gay dads seeks out a relationship with her uniquely bold, take-no-prisoners, Latin birth mom (Alonzo)." Ryan Seacrest, Andrea Shay, Nina Wass of Ryan Seacrest Productions; Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina of Nuyorican Productions; and Brian Dobbins, Peter Principato, and Maggie Haskins of Artists First will also executive produce for ABC Signature.
