ABBOTT ELEMENTARY (ABC) - Taraji P. Henson has been cast as Janine's mother Vanetta on the comedy series. She'll first appear in the April 12 episode, fittingly titled "Mom." (@AbbottElemABC)
DOCTOR WHO (Disney+) - "RuPaul's Drag Race" winner Jinkx Monsoon has been tapped for "a major role in the series." No other details were given. (Variety.com)
GAME OF THRONES AEGON I TARGARYEN PROJECT (HBO, New!) - A prequel series about Aegon I Targaryen's conquest of Westeros is reportedly the latest series based on George R.R. Martin's "Game of Thrones" under consideration at the network: "The show would tell the story of how Aegon and his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, used their army and their three dragons to conquer six of the seven kingdoms on Westeros with the exception of Dorne. In doing so, Aegon I became the first king of Westeros, the first to sit on the Iron Throne, and the founder of the Targaryen Dynasty. Those events took place approximately 300 years prior to the events of 'Game of Thrones.'" The search is underway for a writer. No other details were given other than there "may be a feature component to the project." (Variety.com)
HARRY POTTER LIVE-ACTION SERIES (HBO Max) - Warner Bros. Television is reportedly in talks with author J.K. Rowling to produce the long-rumored series, in which each season would focus on one book in the "Harry Potter" book series. No writer is currently attached. (Bloomberg.com)
KING SHAKA (Showtime) - The pay channel has dropped out of the Antoine Fuqua-produced drama series, which was to tell the sweeping story of the Zulu Empire founder, played by Charles Babalola. Filming on the $90 million production was permanently shut down over the weekend, however producer CBS Studios will be able to assemble a full season out of the footage. The company plans to shop said effort elsewhere. (Deadline.com)
LIONESS (Paramount+) - Thad Luckinbill will recur opposite Zoe SaldaƱa in the upcoming drama as Kyle, "an old friend of Joe's who oversees a trafficking contact." (Deadline.com)
LITTLE SKY (Netflix, New!) - Samara Weaving is attached to star in a single-camera comedy at the streamer which "centers on Penelope Paul Porter (Weaving) who is determined to realize her lifelong dream of being a respected on-air news reporter (despite the fact she may be the worst reporter of all time). When she receives an anonymous tip that the Mayor of Little Sky is missing, she knows it's her chance to finally prove herself. Arriving in the spooky, remote town of Little Sky, she senses she's on to a big story - but little does she know she's stumbled upon something much darker than she could have ever imagined." Writer/director Rightor Doyle is behind the King Lulu-based project, which has a rare pilot order from the service. Weaving and Anonymous Content's Dara Gordon will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: ORIGINAL SIN (HBO Max) - Elias Kacavas's Greg, "Kelly's (Mallory Bechtel) fun-loving boyfriend," is being promoted to regular for the upcoming second season, entitled "Summer School." (Deadline.com)
QUIET IN HER BONES (Showtime, New!) - Aminta Goyel is spearheading a TV adaptation of Nalini Singh's novel at the network, "a gripping thriller set in New Zealand [which] takes you into the twisted world of an exclusive cul-de-sac located on the edge of a sprawling forest." No other auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
