TWO "60 MINUTES" VETERANS ELEVATED TO SENIOR PRODUCERS

Two 60 MINUTES veteran producers have been named senior producers it was announced today by Jeff Fager, executive producer of the Sunday and Wednesday editions of the CBS news magazine.

Rome Hartman becomes senior producer, 60 MINUTES Wednesday, and Michael Radutzky is being named senior producer for the Ed Bradley Documentary Unit. Both are award-winning journalists with more than two decades of experience at all levels of broadcast journalism.

Hartman, 49, will assume duties as Fager's number-two at the Wednesday edition. As senior producer, Hartman's role will be helping to shape and vet stories for 60 MINUTES Wednesday and handling much of the broadcast's day-to-day managerial duties. He will also finish producing two segments for the Sunday edition. "It's a big boost to the broadcast to have someone of Rome's extraordinary talent, experience, and integrity in this important job," said Fager. "Rome is a terrific veteran of CBS News and he has distinguished himself as one of the finest producers ever to work at 60 Minutes."

Joining 60 MINUTES as Lesley Stahl's producer when she became a correspondent in 1991, Hartman has produced nearly a hundred Stahl reports for the Sunday edition. The national Emmy winner had been a senior producer for the CBS EVENING NEWS in the Washington bureau and its White House producer before that. Hartman joined CBS News as a field producer in the Atlanta bureau in 1983 after spending five years in a progression of local television market news producer jobs that eventually landed him in Washington, D.C.

Radutzky, 48, will oversee the Ed Bradley Documentary Unit, a small group of staffers who produce stories for the 60 MINUTES Sunday correspondent. Said Fager, "As a producer with Ed Bradley for nearly 10 years, Michael has been at the center of many of this broadcast's most newsworthy and important stories. His experience makes him perfectly suited to this role, in which he will help choose and shape the stories coming out of the Bradley unit."

The three-time national Emmy winner has been producing 60 MINUTES segments for Ed Bradley since late 1995. Radutzky had been a medical and investigative producer for the CBS EVENING NEWS and before that a producer for the CBS Morning News. He joined CBS News in 1984 as an investigative researcher for the CBS Owned- and-Operated television station in Chicago,WBBM, where he rose to producer and won two local Emmys. Before that, Radutzky had been a reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times for two years. He began his career as a reporter for a Chicago weekly newspaper.
