CHEVY CHASE GUEST STARS AS TELEVISION CELEBRITY ARRESTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING IN NBC'S 'LAW & ORDER,' NOV. 3, 10-11 PM ET/PT

"My first dramatic role, and I was scared to death" said Chevy Chase

NEW YORK November 1, 2006 Emmy winner and comedy superstar Chevy Chase ("Caddyshack," "Fletch") guest stars on a powerful ripped-from-the-headlines "Law & Order" to air Friday, Nov. 3 at 10-11 p.m. ET/PT. In the episode titled "In Vino Vertias," Chase stars as a television celebrity who is pulled over for drunk driving while wearing blood-soaked clothes, and whose religious prejudice comes out after his arrest.

"It was a delight; my first dramatic role, and I was scared to death at first," said Chase. "Then I found with the help of the great acting of the other participants that I was able to do it and comfortably. I hope I get another chance to do more dramatic roles."

In this Friday's episode, unemployed television actor Mitch Carroll (Chase) is arrested for drunk driving at 2 a.m. while wearing blood-stained clothes, and Detectives Ed Green (Jesse L. Martin) and Nina Cassady (Milena Govich) find themselves the target of a drunken rant that reveals the actor's religious prejudices. The blood is soon discovered to belong to Carroll's former executive producer, and the case takes another turn when the same blood is found on Carroll's son John's (guest star Jaymie Dornan) shoes. A.D.A.s Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Connie Rubirosa (Alana De La Garza) must then argue the role the father's prejudice had leading up the crime to ensure justice is served. S. Epatha Merkerson and Fred Dalton Thompson also star.

Chase first came to national prominence as a writer and performer with the original cast of NBC's "Saturday Night Live," for which he won two Emmy Awards. He has since starred in more than 20 films, including "Foul Play," "Caddy Shack," "National Lampoon's Vacation" and its three sequels, "Fletch" and "The Three Amigos." Most recently, Chase started opposite Naomi Watts in "Ellie Parker," which premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival. He will next be seen the in the comedy "Funny Money," which opened this year's Sarasota Film Festival in March.

"Law & Order" is produced by Wolf Films in association with NBC Universal Television Studio. Dick Wolf, Nicholas Wootton, Matthew Penn and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.
