Lionsgate's Acclaimed Showtime Comedy WEEDS Earns Four Golden Globe Award(R) Nominations - Best Comedy, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 15 -- Lionsgate's (NYSE: LGF) acclaimed Showtime comedy WEEDS has earned four Golden Globe Award(R) nominations, including nods for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical; Mary-Louise Parker for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical; Elizabeth Perkins for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television; and Justin Kirk for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.

WEEDS leads the field of Golden Globe(R) contenders for the TV awards along with Grey's Anatomy, which also scored four nominations. This marks the second time the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has recognized the performances of Mary-Louise Parker and Elizabeth Perkins on WEEDS. Both were nominated for Golden Globes(R) last year and Parker went on to win.

Widely praised for its bold and provocative look at the complicated life of a suburban, pot-dealing mother, WEEDS is Showtime's most watched comedy and one of the most talked about series on television. Recently renewed for its third season, the series is created and executive produced by Emmy(R) Award winner Jenji Kohan and produced by Lionsgate in association with Tilted Productions. Shooting resumes in Los Angeles next spring for a summer 2007 third season launch.

WEEDS is also enjoying great success internationally. Lionsgate has licensed the series to 130 territories, including the U.K., Canada, Latin America, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands and Australia.

"We salute our extraordinary cast and creative team," said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate's President of Television Programming and Production, "and we're thrilled that the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press have recognized WEEDS in such a significant way."

The 64th annual Golden Globes(R) will be awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in Beverly Hills on January 15, 2007.

Lionsgate is the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, winning this year's Best Picture Academy Award(R) for CRASH, generating two consecutive years of $300 million-plus domestic theatrical box office, operating a $500 million-plus home entertainment business and producing a broad slate of prime-time television series for fiscal 2007. It is a premier producer and distributor of motion pictures, television programming, home entertainment, family entertainment, and video-on-demand content. Its prestigious and prolific library of more than 10,000 titles is a valuable source of stable, recurring revenue and a foundation for the growth of the Company's core businesses. The Lionsgate brand is synonymous with original, daring, quality entertainment in markets around the world.
