LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

HEROES (NBC) - Ernie Hudson ("Oz") is the latest addition to the show's fourth season ensemble. He'll play Captain Lubbock, a Baltimore detective who's apparently on the hunt for one of the other characters on the show. Other newcomers this volume include Deanne Bray, Madeline Zima, Rachel Melvin, Ray Park, Rick Worthy and Robert Knepper.

SCREAM QUEENS (VH1) - The cable channel is currently casting for a second season of the reality series, in which aspiring actresses compete for a role in a slasher film. Here's how the network details the casting call: "Are you an actress dreaming of a once in a lifetime shot at a career on the big screen? Do you have what it takes to handle intense, one-on-one mentoring with a major film director? Would you like training from one of the most celebrated acting coaches in Hollywood? In short, are you ready to be a star? VH1, in association with Lionsgate (the studio behind such horror blockbusters as Saw and Hostel) is NOW CASTING beautiful, confident, tenacious, uninhibited actresses who are ready for stardom and will stop at nothing to get it. Ten lucky women will be chosen to compete in the second season of VH1's Scream Queens. One will win a breakout role in a theatrically-released Lionsgate horror film."

SEVEN DEADLY SINS (LMN, New!) - Eric Close ("Without a Trace"), Dreama Walker ("Gossip Girl"), Rachel Melvin ("Days of Our Lives"), Jared Keeso ("The Guard"), Emma Lahana ("The Guard"), Greyston Holt ("Durham County") and Steven Grayhm ("Taken") are set to star in a new four-hour mini-series for the Lifetime sibling based on Robin Wasserman's "Seven Deadly Sins" series of novels. Production is set to begin shortly with Jeff Renfroe helming an adaptation by Gary Tieche. As for specifics, Walker plays Harper, "a manipulative queen bee at her high school whose popularity is usurped when a transfer student (Melvin) comes to town, seduces Harper's boyfriend (Keeso) and shamelessly pursues handsome French teacher Mr. Powell (Close)." Said development eventually leads to Harper being accused of murder and the town's sheriff (yet to be cast) - who's also her dad's mistress - must prove her guilt, "even if it means uncovering every dark secret and lie." Barbara Lieberman is executive producing the project for SDS Films with Ted Bauman producing.
