COVERT AFFAIRS (USA) - Emmanuelle Vaugier ("Human Target") is set to recur on the upcoming drama, due Tuesday, July 13 at 10:00/9:00c. She'll play "a fearless journalist/blogger" in the newcomer, however no other specifics were given.

THE EVENT (NBC) - Evan Katz ("24") has been named showrunner of the recently ordered drama, "an emotional high-octane conspiracy thriller that follows an Everyman who investigates the mysterious disappearance of his fiancee and unwittingly begins to expose the biggest cover-up in U.S. history." Said development is part of a two-year, seven-figure overall deal the writer/producer has inked with Universal Media Studios. Nick Wauters, who created the hour, will serve as a co-executive producer. Steve Stark and Jeffrey Reiner are also executive producing alongside Katz.

KATH & KIM (NBC) - Former co-executive producer Liz Astrof has inked a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television. The pact, financial details of which weren't given, calls for the writer/producer to staff on one of the studio's 2010-11 season newcomers. She'll also presumably develop new series projects.

LIE TO ME (FOX) - Executive producer Shawn Ryan is departing the series after one season at the helm. He'll reportedly transition to "Ride-along," his drama pilot for the network which is expected to receive a series commitment. Ryan is also committed to sibling network FX's upcoming drama "Terriers." As for "Lie to Me," it's not clear if FOX will make the call about a third season for its upfront presentation as the second half of its sophomore run won't begin until Monday, June 7.

METADOCS (Syfy, New!) - Michael Chernuchin ("Law & Order: Criminal Intent") is developing a new drama at the cable channel about "a secretive wing of a large urban hospital that treats injured superheroes." The project is based on the Antarctic Press comic book of the same name. Chernuchin will pen the hour and executive produce alongside Landscape Entertainment's Bob Cooper and J.J. Jamieson as well as Platinum Studios's Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. FremantleMedia and Universal Cable Productions are co-producing.
