24: LEGACY (FOX) - Moran Atias ("Tyrant") has been tapped for a role on the upcoming spin-off as the mysterious Sidra, "Tony Almeida's strong, attractive and intense associate who instigates feelings of distrust between Tony and former Head of CTU Rebecca Ingram, played by Miranda Otto." ANY GIVEN WEDNESDAY WITH BILL SIMMONS (HBO) - The pay channel has pulled the plug on the Bill Simmons-fronted talk show. The series will wrap after 17 episodes next week. "HBO is committed to Bill Simmons, and we are excited to bring his unique vision to bear on an array of new programming initiatives under the HBO Sports banner in 2017," the network's Peter Nelson told the publication. DESIGNATED SURVIVOR (ABC) - Mariana Klaveno ("True Blood") has scored an arc on the freshman drama as "the mysterious and calculating Dark-Haired Woman, a clandestine operator in league with the people behind the Capitol attack." (Deadline.com)
DISRUPTERS, THE (ABC, New!) - Carla Kettner ("Bones") has landed a potential drama at the Alphabet about "a former high-powered Hollywood executive and an idealistic physician who are partners and best friends. Together with their staff of brilliant misfits, they are patient advocates who will stop at nothing to ensure their clients receive the best possible medical care." The project is inspired by the life experiences of Byrdie Lifson-Pompan and Dr. Valerie Ulene, who serve as consulting producers. Warner Bros. Television is behind the hour with Kim Moses of Sander-Moses Productions and Vendetta Productions' Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein also executive producing. The latter duo previously adapted said concept under the moniker "The Advocate" for ABC in 2015 with Joy Bryant and Kim Raver in the lead roles. (Deadline.com)
FAMILY STYLE (ABC, New!) - Claudia Lonow and Scott King are set to team for a single-camera comedy at the Alphabet about "two mismatched men from different cultures who find love in a family-run restaurant in Miami." Universal Television-based Paper Kite Productions is behind the half-hour, which has a penalty attached. Amy Poehler, Brooke Posch and 3 Arts Entertainment's Dave Becky will also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
INSATIABLE (The CW, New!) - Lauren Gussis ("Dexter") is developing a new drama at the netlet about "a disgraced, dissatisfied civil lawyer-turned-beauty pageant coach who takes on a vengeful, bullied teenager as his client, and has no idea what he's about to unleash upon the world." The project is "inspired by real-life southern lawyer and top beauty pageant coach Bill Alverson who recently toplined his own TLC reality series, Coach Charming." Ryan Seacrest Productions, Storied Media Group and CBS Television Studios will co-produce with Ryan Seacrest, Nina Wass, Todd Hoffman and Dennis Kim also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
NCIS (CBS) - Executive producers George Schenck and Frank Cardea have been named co-showrunners of the veteran drama following the death of Gary Glasberg last month. (Deadline.com)
PULLING (NBC, New!) - The Peacock is the latest to take a stab at importing Sharon Horgan and Dennis Kelly's much-ballyhooed U.K. series. Wendy and Lizzie Molyneux ("Bob's Burgers") are spearheading the new take, in which "Donna breaks off her engagement to comfortable human-sweatsock Karl and moves in with her libertine sister Karen and sweet friend Louise. The show centers around the women's adventures in the often-horrifying modern dating scene and their search for professional fulfillment." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the half-hour with Merman Films' Horgan and Clelia Mountford as well as Kelly, Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor also serving as executive producers. Said effort marks the third attempt at a U.S. take: June Diane Raphael and Kristen Schaal starred as Donna and Louise in a pilot for ABC in 2013; while Lindsay Sloane and Majandra Delfino filled said roles in 2009 (known as "Besties"), also for ABC. REAL O'NEALS, THE (ABC) - The Alphabet has commissioned three additional episodes of the comedy, bringing its sophomore run to 16 episodes. (Deadline.com)
SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT (Netflix) - Chyna Layne (Precious) and Ilfenesh Hadera (Baywatch) have both scored roles on the upcoming series, a contemporary update of Spike Lee's groundbreaking 1986 indie film. No details on their roles were given. (Deadline.com)
SUCCESSION (HBO) - Hiam Abbass, Alan Ruck, Rob Yang, Parker Sawyers and Peter Friedman have all been tapped for roles on the drama pilot. Abbas will play Marcia, "current wife of Logan (Brian Cox) - a loving, formidable partner"; with Ruck as Connor Roy, "the eldest son and only child from Logan's first marriage"; Yang as Lawrence, "founder and CEO of a digital media outfit who is the target of a buyout"; Sawyers as Alessandro, "a young, bright, up-and-coming executive at the family firm"; and Friedman as Francis, "COO of the firm, old family friend and a mentor figure to Kendall (Jeremy Strong)." THANKLESS (CBS, New!) - Craig Gerard and Matt Zinman ("How I Met Your Mother") have set up a hybrid comedy at the Eye about "a group of ambitious assistants who pursue their dreams at a sports agency in Chicago." Warner Bros. Television is behind the half-hour with SpringHill Entertainment's LeBron James and Maverick Carter also on board to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
THROUPLE (NBC, New!) - Richie Keen, Andrew Leeds and Lindsey Kraft have sold a half-hour comedy to the Peacock based on a short film written by and starring the three real-life best friends. The small screen take "revolves around a long-term couple and their best friend as they navigate everyday situations in their own very unique way." Keen will direct from a script co-written by the trio with Scott Fedro and Perry Rogers also serving as executive producers for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)
