CHOIR/UNTITLED DETROIT YOUTH CHOIR PROJECT (Disney+, New!) - Blumhouse Television has set up a pair of projects at the streamer based on the inspirational story behind "America's Got Talent" finalists the Detroit Youth Choir and its Artistic Director Anthony White, "a teacher, mentor and father figure in the heart of Detroit, [who] has impacted and empowered more than 1000 kids through music for over two decades." First up: "Choir," a six-episode unscripted docuseries about DYC. Filming has been underway in Detroit since last fall, chronicling their 2020-21 season. Rudy Valdez is directing for Michael Seitzman's Maniac Productions, Chris McCumber's Blumhouse Television and Ross Dinerstein's Campfire. A companion scripted series also is in development from Anthony Sparks and the aforementioned auspices. (Deadline.com)
DC'S STARGIRL (The CW) - John Wesley Shipp will drop by the show's ninth episode this season in his "The Flash" role of Jay Garrick which "establishes the Golden Age Flash as a member of Earth-2's Justice Society of America." (EW.com)
DROPOUT, THE (Hulu) - Kate McKinnon has exited the limited series about the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes and her company, Theranos. No reason was indicated. McKinnon had been attached as the star and executive producer from the start. The search is underway for a replacement with production targeting a summer start. (Deadline.com)
FBI: INTERNATIONAL (CBS, New!) - Derek Haas is spearheading a proposed third installment in the franchise at the network, which "would focus on the FBI's international operations." Universal Television and CBS Studios are behind the project with Wolf Entertainment's Dick Wolf, Peter Jankowski and Arthur Forney also executive producing. It's not clear if it would be set up via backdoor pilot on "FBI" or "FBI: Most Wanted" or as its own entity from the start. (Deadline.com)
FOR LIFE (ABC) - Director George Tillman, Jr. has signed a first-look deal with producer Sony Pictures Television. The pact gives the studio first crack at his and Robert Teitel's State Street Pictures' output. (Deadline.com)
KUNG FU (The CW) - Ludi Lin is the latest addition to the reboot series as Kerwin, "heir to the billionaire Tan family fortune. He is described as dashing, handsome, physically fit, and impossibly charismatic. He puts on a suave playboy act to the world but is driven by a deep hurt and antipathy towards his father. An erotically charged partnership with Zhilan will provide Kerwin with just the path to revenge (and vindication) he has been waiting for." (Deadline.com)
MACGYVER (CBS) - Alexandra Grey has scored a recurring role on the series as Parker, "a transgender female Phoenix engineer who has been tapped by director Matty Webber (Meredith Eaton) to provide critical assistance to MacGyver and the Phoenix team. Whether it be cracking cyphers to solve a case or lending a supportive ear when needed, Parker has their back." (Deadline.com)
REBEL (ABC) - Sharon Lawrence, Mo McRae, Sarah Grace White and Nina Millin are the latest bound for the Katey Sagal-led newcomer. Lawrence will play Angela, "a flirty, upbeat, single woman who gets involved in Rebel's life in unexpected ways"; while White, Sagal's daughter, will play Jackie Huber, "a fan of Rebel who comes to her for help with her landlord issues"; with McRae as Amir, "a smart, sexy and arrogant attorney at the law firm at the center of the series"; and Millin as Judge Bobiak, "who is presiding over a central case featured in the series." (THR.com)
ROADMARKS (HBO, New!) - Kalinda Vazquez is developing a small screen take on Roger Zelazny's novel, about "a highway that can travel through time, linking all timelines and places together for the very special people who discover it. Some might use it to explore the vast mysteries of the world, but for others... the road might be their only hope to survive, rewrite life-altering mistakes, and create a better future for themselves and the ones they love." George R.R. Martin and Vince Gerardis are also on board to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
