ELEVEN, THE (A&E)
· [series premiere - special time] · 10/19/17 at 9:00 PM
· [regularly airs] · thursdays from 10:00 PM-11:00 PM EST
(from A&E's press release, September 2017) A&E Network will premiere the new nonfiction, six-part limited series "The Eleven" following investigators as they reexamine the murders of eleven teenage girls after discovering a confession letter from current inmate and convicted murderer Edward Harold Bell. Through their research and a series of exclusive videotaped interviews with Bell, investigators have pushed police to reopen the case of two of the victims. Produced by Cineflix, "The Eleven" premieres with back-to-back episodes Thursday, October 19 at 9PM ET/PT on A&E. New episodes will continue in the 10PM ET/PT timeslot the following week and for the remainder of the series. Throughout the 1970s, the cities in and around Galveston County, Texas were haunted by the brutal murders of eleven teenage girls. Journalist Lise Olsen and retired police detective Fred Paige are revisiting these cases after discovering a confession letter from inmate Edward Harold Bell, who is currently serving a 70-year sentence for an unrelated murder. In his chilling confession, Bell describes some of the girls' deaths in gruesome detail and refers to many of the victims by name. Yet in the investigators' exclusive face-to-face interviews with Bell, he denies the written confession, proving that linking him to the 45-year-old murders will be a formidable challenge. With a parole hearing for Bell looming this fall, Olsen and Paige must try to piece together evidence that demonstrates a definitive link between the convicted killer and girls he calls 'the eleven who went to heaven' before he has the possibility to walk free. In each one-hour episode, "The Eleven" will explore the girls' stories in depth in an attempt to discover a link to Bell. Through cinematic dramatizations as well as unprecedented access to interviews with friends, family, and witnesses, the limited series will attempt to solve the mystery behind 'the eleven' in order to try to find justice for the young women and closure for their families.

His pharmacy and World's Fair Hotel provided the perfect facade for the deranged madman to lure victims to his "murder castle." He built the castle with stolen money and kept business brisk with dead bodies, selling his victims as skeletons for medical schools. Holmes racked up quite the body count, some believe as many as 200, while also accumulating substantial debt, and his bleak, financial prospects would eventually be his undoing.

· [regularly airs] · tuesdays from 10:00 PM-11:00 PM EST
(from National Geographic Channel's press release, October 2017) National Geographic's eight-part global event series The Long Road Home, a gripping and intimate look at the toll war takes on soldiers and their families, will debut with a special two-hour premiere Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at 9/8c. The series moves to its regular date and time of Tuesdays at 10/9c beginning Nov. 14. Based on the New York Times best-selling book by internationally acclaimed journalist Martha Raddatz, The Long Road Home tells the story of "Black Sunday," when a small platoon of soldiers from the 1st Cavalry Division was ferociously ambushed in Sadr City, Baghdad, in April 2004. Eight Americans would make the ultimate sacrifice that day and more than 65 would be seriously wounded. No soldier fights alone. The soldiers in this story are no exception. The scripted series offers viewers an intimate window into the experience of war as seen through the eyes and the hearts of the soldiers themselves and their families back home. It is an adrenaline-fueled and emotional journey that follows the action of the battle on two simultaneous fronts - the chaotic, terror-filled streets of Sadr City, where a group of inexperienced young soldiers faces an unexpected and unimaginable attack with bravery they never knew they had, and the homefront at Fort Hood, where family members, desperate for news of their loved ones and fearing the worst, discover their own courage and determination as well. With unprecedented intimacy, the eight-part series tells the stories not only of these courageous soldiers but also of their compatriots involved in the three desperate and deadly rescue missions launched to save them. Across eight hours, reflecting the exact amount of time the soldiers were pinned down, each episode highlights a different character's unique and compelling journey as we come to understand their heroism and humanity.

I AM ELIZABETH SMART (LIFETIME)
· [original telefilm] · 11/18/17 at 8:00 PM
(from Lifetime's press release, July 2017) 2017 marks the 15-year anniversary of Elizabeth Smart's abduction. Part of a cross-network event with A&E, Lifetime's I Am Elizabeth Smart is the definitive, authorized movie about the harrowing kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart, told from her perspective and with her full participation. In June 2002, Elizabeth Ann Smart (Alana Boden) was a 14-year-old girl when she was abducted from her Salt Lake City home by religious fanatic Brian David Mitchell (Skeet Ulrich). He brought her to a hilly encampment where, with his twisted accomplice Wanda Barzee (Deirdre Lovejoy), he held Elizabeth captive. She was starved, drugged, raped and subjected to bizarre religious rituals until, nine months later, she enabled her own rescue. A film about the kidnapping was rushed on the air shortly after the incident, but it shied away from the reality of what Elizabeth went through. Now, in I Am Elizabeth Smart, Elizabeth herself, as a producer and on-screen narrator, explores how she survived, and confronts the truths and misconceptions about her captivity. I Am Elizabeth Smart is executive produced by Steve Michaels, Jonathan Koch and Joan Harrison of Asylum Entertainment, Allison Berkley and Joseph Freed of Marwar Junction Productions. Barbara Lieberman and Tom Patricia also executive produce the movie with Elizabeth Smart serving as producer. Sarah Walker directs from a teleplay by Tory Walker. The two-part documentary special, Elizabeth Smart: Autobiography debuts on A&E on November 12 and 13.

The series focuses on the infamous crime that shocked the nation and was chronicled in Truman Capote's seminal book, In Cold Blood - the November 15, 1959 brutal murder of four members of the Clutter family in their home in a small Kansas farming community, a crime seemingly without motive. An AMC Studios, RadicalMedia and Third Eye Motion Picture Company production, the true crime documentary takes a fresh in-depth look at the legendary case - digging into the resulting investigation, and the convictions and executions of Perry Smith and Richard Hickock. "Cold Blooded: The Clutter Family Murders" draws from the first-hand accounts of relatives, family friends, townspeople and law enforcement -- some of whom have never spoken publicly before. In addition to commentary from surviving Clutter family members, there are new insights from Paul Dewey, son of Alvin Dewey, who was the Kansas Bureau of Investigation's lead detective on the case; Gerald Clarke, Truman Capote biographer and friend; and actor Scott Wilson, who played murderer Richard "Dick" Hickock in the Academy Award-nominated motion picture, among others. The series also presents never-before-seen details such as original photographs, audio recordings, and documents from the case, as well as memoirs and letters from the murderers and their families. Through this immersive investigation, the true crime docuseries deepens our understanding of this notorious crime and explores the role it played in the American psyche.
