DOCTOR FINLAY, Series 1

The popular mid-1990s PBS' Masterpiece Theatre series based on Scots author A. J. Cronin's stories about the fictional medical hero, Dr. Finlay. Doctor Finlay updates the popular BBC series of the 1960s - Doctor Finlay's Casebook. Set in the 1940s, the series chronicles life in the town of Tannochbrae as people come to terms with post-war problems and Doctor Finlay (David Rintoul, Game of Thrones, Pride and Prejudice) prepares to cope with upheaval in his personal and professional life returns from war service. Early storylines include the setting up of the new National Health Service and the modernization of the medical practice at Arden House, Tannochbrae, Scotland. The series co-stars Ian Bannen (Waking Ned Devine, Braveheart) as his semi-retired practice partner, Dr. Cameron, Annette Crosbie (Henry IX, Little Dorrit, One Foot in the Grave) as his housekeeper, Janet., and Finlay's assistant, Dr. Neil, played by Jason Flemyng (The Missing, X-Men: First Class, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).
