THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN (FOX, New!) - The network has given a put pilot order to a small screen take on Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill's much-ballyhooed comic book of the same name, in which literary figures Mina Murray, Allan Quatermain, Hawley Griffin, Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde and Captain Nemo work together as heroes in Victorian England. Michael Green ("The River") has been tapped as the showrunner of the potential hour with Erwin Stoff also executive producing for 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)

QUARRY (Cinemax; W: Graham Gordy & Michael D. Fuller; D: John Hillcoat) - Jamie Hector ("The Wire") has snagged a role on the drama pilot, about a Marine marksman (Logan Marshall-Green) who returns home from Vietnam in 1973 only to find himself shunned and demonized. He'll play the titular character's best friend Arthur in the hour, which also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Noah Taylor, Skipp Sudduth and Stellan Skarsgard. (TVLine.com)

THE STRAIN (FX/FX Productions; W: Chuck Hogan & Guillermo del Toro; D: Guillermo del Toro) - Sean Astin is the latest actor to board the drama pilot, about the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City which is tasked with investigating a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. No details were given about his character. The project also stars Corey Stoll, Jack Kesy, John Hurt, Jonathan Hyde, Kevin Durand, Lauren Lee Smith, Mia Maestro, Miguel Gomez and Richard Sammel.
