He has the razor sharp mind of a master strategist, combat skills that verge on the superhuman, but when he loses his temper people die." (Deadline.com)
BLUE CRUSH (NBC, New!) - Lizzy Weiss is looking to bring her 2002 movie - about "three best friends (Kate Bosworth, Michelle Rodriguez and Sanoe Lake) living in Hawaii and surfing on its famed North Shore" - to the small screen as a drama at the Peacock. Universal Television is behind the hour, which has a penalty attached, with Imagine Television's Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
FOSTERS, THE (Freeform) - Shi Ne Nielson ("Chasing Life") has scored an arc on the series as Kate O'Brien, "a very sharp and extremely capable public defender. Professional and caring, she is one of Stef's (Teri Polo) friends. She's regarded as one of the best public defenders in the department." (Deadline.com)
GOOD FIGHT, THE (CBS) - Zach Grenier and Jerry Adler are both set to reprise their "The Good Wife" roles David Lee and Howard Lyman, respectively, for the debut installment of the spin-off. (Deadline.com)
MAGNOLIA SPRINGS (CBS, New!) - Steve Franks ("Psych") has sold a potential drama to the Eye about "the Sheriff of Magnolia Springs who discovers that this progressive and idyllic town in the new American South is a hotbed of criminal activity, and he enlists the help of his teenage son to investigate the town's dark secrets and quirky crimes." Chris Henze of Thruline Entertainment will also executive produce for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
NARCOS (Netflix) - Andrea Londo is bound for the show's third season as Maria, "a young and beautiful former Colombian beauty queen who is clever and knows how to survive." (Deadline.com)
PATIENT ZERO (NBC) - The Peacock has rescinded its 10-episode order for the drama, billed as "candid look at an outbreak that pushes its characters to extremes, revealing the best - and very worst - humanity has to offer." Writer Graham Moore and director Marc Forster were among the featured auspices of the project, which was picked up directly to series in May 2015. (Deadline.com)
PURE GENIUS (CBS) - Alexis Krause ("Secret Girlfriend") will recur on the freshman drama as Nina Cooper, "the nurse taking care of Louis Keating (Cullen Douglas), who is suffering from GSS, the same ailment that James Bell (Augustus Prew) is afflicted with. She also strikes up a friendship with Bell." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED BEN WEXLER PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Ben Wexler ("The Comedians") has sold a new single-camera comedy to the Alphabet about "a recently-widowed 60-something guy who teams up with an entrepreneurial 20-something girl to "monetize" his biggest asset - the single-family brownstone he used to share with his wife - renting out the bedrooms to an eclectic group of housemates." Sony Pictures Television is behind the half-hour, which has a penalty attached. Exhibit A's Seth Gordon and Mary Rohlich are also set to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED COLE-KELLY & PITMAN PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Sam Pitman and Adam Cole-Kelly have set up a single-camera comedy at the Peacock about "a 30-something father who's trying to navigate his life a year after his wife suddenly dies: how to live, date, parent, etc., all with the unrelenting, unsolicited advice of his in-laws, parents, friends, wife's friends and nanny - aka his new makeshift family." The project, which has a penalty attached, comes from the Warner Bros. Television-based Brownstone Productions with its principals Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman executive producing.
