COUNTERPART (Starz) - Betty Gabriel is bound for the show's second season as Naya Temple, "a former FBI agent recently hired by the Office of Interchange to clean house, a figure both intimidating and magnetic." (Deadline.com)
DEAD INSIDE (The CW) - Michael Patrick Jann is set to direct and executive produce the drama pilot, about an underachieving beat cop who starts seeing the ghost of her hotshot detective big brother, flipping their sibling dynamic on its head and allowing her to truly live her life for the first time, as they work together to help crime victims both living and dead, and figure out the unfinished business keeping his spirit on Earth. (Deadline.com)
FIX, THE (ABC) - Mouzam Makkar ("Champions") is the first to be cast in the drama pilot, about Maya Travis, a prosecutor who lost the trial of the century and was shredded by the media in the process, only to have the murderer strike again eight years later. She will play Loni Cho, "a Deputy District Attorney and the lead attorney on Amelia's murder." Her casting is presumably in second position to the NBC comedy. (Deadline.com)
GONE, BABY, GONE (FOX) - Joseph Morgan ("The Originals") has booked the male lead on the drama pilot, based on Dennis Lehane's novel-turned-film about private detectives Patrick Kenzie (Morgan) and Angela Gennaro right wrongs the law can't in the working-class Boston borough of Dorchester. In the 2007 movie, the Kenzie was played by Casey Affleck. (Deadline.com)
GOOD DOCTOR, THE (ABC) - Graham Patrick Martin will drop by the show's season finale as Blake, "an intoxicated college student who attempts to drop his injured friend Caden off at the emergency room and skedaddle. He is stopped by the St. Bonaventure staff, but is unwilling to provide information that might save Caden's life. It's eventually discovered that the boys were involved in a fraternity hazing, during which Blake talked Caden into taking ecstasy." (TVLine.com)
GREENLEAF (OWN) - Patti LaBelle will recur on the show's upcoming season as Maxine Patterson, "a famous Christian motivational speaker and the CEO of a global Christian self-help empire. An old friend of Mae's from college days, Maxine will be Lady Mae's sounding board and greatest ally as Mae attempts to consolidate her power at Calvary." (Deadline.com)
I FEEL BAD (NBC) - Sarayu Blue and Paul Adelstein are set to star in the single-camera comedy pilot, about one woman's hilarious unfiltered take on the side effects of trying to have it all. She'll play Emet, "a modern working mother who is in a constant battle between being a mom and still having some personal fulfillment. She works as a storyboard artist at a video game startup with a group of young guys, whom she often uses as sounding boards for her own personal issues." Adelstein then is set as her husband David, "who was raised as man's man but is trying hard to be a modern and sensitive husband and father. He works at the customer complaints department of a major airline. He loves problems with concrete, simple solutions." (Deadline.com)
MANIFEST (NBC) - J.R. Ramirez has snagged a role on the high-concept drama, in which a plane disappears from radar and returns five years later after being untraceable and presumed lost at sea. He'll play Det. Jared Williams: "Even after his fiancée disappeared on that mysterious flight, Williams never stopped loving her. Eventually, however, he moved on. Now that she's back, he's torn apart by the return of his first love." (Deadline.com)
MIXTAPE (FOX) - Callie Hernandez has been cast in the drama pilot as Eleanor "Nellie" O'Brien, "whose job in admissions at an arts college and relationship with an up-and-coming musician have derailed her own dreams of becoming an artist." (Deadline.com)
MOST LIKELY TO... (ABC) - Yvette Nicole Brown ("The Mayor") has been cast as one of the leads in the multi-camera comedy pilot, about former high school classmates who are reunited 20 years later under the same roof as single moms and unlikely housemates. She'll play Markie McQueen, "described as radiant and warm, quietly confident, with a successful salon and brilliant daughter - but her insecurities are reignited when her high school bully arrives in town." Said casting is in first position to "The Mayor," which is not expected to return. (THR.com)
MURDER (CBS) - Michael Chiklis ("Gotham") is set to star opposite Teyonah Parris in the drama pilot, which takes the audience inside the emotional journey of an investigation, allowing them to discern the truth and judge the suspects' guilt or innocence for themselves. He'll play Mason "Mace" Garrity, "a veteran NYPD detective whose deep empathy and sharp instincts have been the foundation of an exemplary career. But now, his usual style is disrupted by his new partner, outspoken rookie Detective Ayana Lake (Parris), who will challenge all his assumptions." (Deadline.com)
PURGE, THE (USA/Syfy) - Gabriel Chavarria and Jessica Garza are set to topline the small screen take on the film franchise. He will play Miguel, "a U.S. Marine with a hard edge and a noble mission. After receiving a cryptic letter from his little sister, Penelope (Garzia), he returns to town on Purge Night - prepared to face the senseless violence in the streets alone in order to protect what he loves most - his family." Garzia's Penelope "belongs to a Purge-worshipping cult. Having pledged herself to be sacrificed at the behest of their charismatic leader, Penelope's faith is tested when she is exposed to the ghastly realities of the Purge." (Deadline.com)
SALVAGE (ABC) - Charity Wakefield has scored the female lead in the drama pilot, about ex-cop Jimmy Hill who just wants to be left alone after moving back home in rural Florida; but when a local murder is linked to the sunken treasure of a lost Spanish galleon, he's drawn into the investigation by an idealistic deputy and pitted against the powerful town patriarch, outside criminal agents, and his own father. She'll play Gwen Daniels, "the beautiful daughter of the town's richest man, who arrives back in town newly unmarried and under mysterious circumstances." (Deadline.com)
STATIES (ABC) - Jennifer Aspen is the latest addition to the drama pilot, about Eliza Cortez (Annie Ilonzeh), a hard-charging NYPD detective who's banished to the boonies after a high-profile mistake and is paired with a new partner, Oregon State Trooper Sam King (Andy Karl). She's set as Scottie Dias, "the administrative support for the State Police unit. A fast talker and a huge gossip, she has a mischievous smile and knows more than she lets on. She regularly interacts with Eliza and Sam and appears to be one of those veteran bureaucrats with an infinite storehouse of local trivia." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED TIM DOYLE PROJECT (ABC) - Sam Straley has scored a role on the single-camera comedy pilot, about an Irish-Catholic family with a working class dad (Michael Cudlitz), traditional mom (Mary McCormack) and eight sons as they struggle to cope in the turbulent 1970's. He'll play Lawrence, "the eldest Dwyer son." (Deadline.com)
WAYWARD PINES (FOX) - The network has formally opted not to order a third installment of the M. Night Shyamalan-produced series. (Variety.com)
WHISKEY CAVALIER (ABC) - Tyler James Williams is joining the Scott Foley/Lauren Cohan-led drama pilot as Edgar Standish, "a rogue NSA analyst who hacked the State Department's mainframe. A jittery genius, he now has enough super-secret information to get him bought off, imprisoned or killed by a dozen governments - if Will and Frankie don't get to him first." (Deadline.com)
